We are seeking a

Human Resources Director

to lead HR operations within our fast-paced hospitality organization. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in HRIS systems, benefits administration, payroll, workers' compensation, recruiting, and employee engagement. This candidate thrives building something from the ground up, isn't afraid to get into the weeds, and never loses sight of the bigger picture.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all HR functions, including benefits, payroll, workers' compensation, compliance, talent acquisition, HRIS, and employee relations
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, including gaming and hospitality regulations
  • Oversee HRIS system management, optimizing functionality and ensuring data integrity
  • Administer employee benefits programs, ensuring ACA compliance and competitive offerings
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work programs
  • Develop and implement onboarding, training, and talent development programs to enhance retention and engagement
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives, fostering a culture of inclusion, recognition, and professional growth
  • Guide performance management, coaching, and conflict resolution, equipping managers with effective tools for employee development
  • Partner with leadership to align HR and talent management strategies with organizational goals
  • Oversee recruitment and succession planning, ensuring strategic workforce planning and leadership development
  • Proactively mitigate legal risks by implementing policies, training, and investigation processes for workplace issues
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment laws and regulations, ensuring company compliance
  • Design and manage compensation structures and benefits packages to attract and retain top talent
  • Optimize HR technology to improve self-service functionality, data security, and HR service delivery
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support business objectives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in an HR-related discipline or similar preferred
  • HRCI and/or SHRM Certification highly preferred
  • Excellent understanding of current Texas and California employment legislation and best practice
  • A minimum of 7 years of HR generalist experience partnering directly with senior leadership to develop, align and implement HR and organizational development strategies
  • Experience supervising and developing staff
  • Experience implementing strategies and systems for talent management, compensation and benefits, and HR technology
  • Strong business acumen and leadership abilities
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and other compliance issues
  • Ability to listen and probe to understand underlying needs and/or root cause of an issue
  • Ability to provide thoughtful, progressive and strategic guidance
  • Expertise in analysis, critical decision making, project management, and process improvement
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills, including proficiency in developing and delivering presentations
  • Demonstrated ability to anticipate and solve practical problems
  • Ability to identify, influence, and collaborate with key stakeholders to achieve desired organizational outcomes
  • Outstanding judgement, sensitivity and high discretion
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HR system applications

Would Love

  • Prior experience in Hospitality, Entertainment, or Gaming with complex organizational structures
  • Experience with UKG
  • An empathetic style with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence behavior and buy-in at all levels of an organization
