SUMMARY

The Content Strategist is responsible for executing SEO-driven content strategies in support of large-scale, multi-location client programs. This role focuses on creating, optimizing, and governing search-focused content that improves discoverability, supports lead generation, and aligns with brand standards across digital properties.

The Content Strategist will also leverage AI-assisted tools to generate and refine content recommendations at scale, using human judgment to ensure accuracy, originality, and alignment with brand and compliance standards.

Working closely with SEO, technical, analytics, and client stakeholders, the Content Strategist delivers scalable content solutions across websites, local landing pages, and online business listings. This role emphasizes search performance, operational consistency, and adherence to defined brand and compliance guidelines while improving user experience at scale.

KEY OUTCOMES \& RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Outcome: SEO Content Program Execution: Effectively manage client content and listings to support brand awareness, lead generation, and digital presence.

  • Execute SEO content initiatives across multi-location and multi-market client programs. Manage and optimize website content and online business listings to ensure accuracy, consistency, and search visibility.
  • Implement content updates using repeatable processes and templates to support scalability and efficiency.
  • Maintain alignment with client brand guidelines, content standards, and approval workflows.
  • Support performance goals related to local discoverability, engagement, and lead generation.
  • Use AI-assisted tools to accelerate content ideation and draft recommendations across high-volume programs, while maintaining quality controls and editorial standards.
  • Develop scalable content suggestion frameworks, including repeatable prompts, templates, and QA checkpoints that support consistent output across markets and locations.

Key Outcome: Account Strategy: Develop and implement strategic, search-optimized content tailored to client’s goals and target audience.

  • Develop and execute search-driven content strategies aligned to client goals and audience intent.
  • Conduct keyword, SERP, and competitive research with a focus on local and service-based search behavior.
  • Write and optimize search-friendly content for web pages, local landing pages, and business descriptions.
  • Apply keyword insights to create high-performing, scalable content that balances relevance and consistency.
  • Partner with SEO and analytics teams to refine content based on performance data and testing insights.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Advertising, Communications, English or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience supporting SEO content initiatives, preferably within an agency or enterprise environment
  • Working knowledge of search engine optimization practices
  • Proven track record in operating with a high-level of integrity, commitment, and enthusiasm to take on a challenging role with cross-functional commitments
  • Google Analytics certification

Preferred:

  • Experience bringing strategic plans to execution
  • Google Adwords certification
  • Agency experience

COMPENSATION

Butler/Till is committed to providing pay transparency of our compensation philosophy and ensuring equitable pay practices for our employee owners. The compensation range for this position is $45,000-$66,000 and represents the annual salary range in Rochester, NY. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience.

This is just one component of Butler/Till’s total compensation package for employee owners. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including ESOP (employee stock ownership plan), an annual bonus, in addition to a full benefits package, and paid time off benefits, including 100% paid parental leave.
