Overview

A well-established boutique investment bank focused heavily within the life sciences sector is seeking a highly motivated Accounting Manager – Investment Banking to join its Finance \& Accounting team. This individual will play a key role in supporting accounting operations, financial reporting, internal controls, FP\&A initiatives, and ongoing finance transformation efforts, including ERP optimization initiatives.

This is a highly visible, hands-on opportunity reporting into senior finance leadership within a lean and collaborative environment. The role offers strong exposure to profitability analysis, investment banking deal activity, strategic reporting, and operational improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation
  • Support preparation of management reporting packages and financial analytics for senior leadership
  • Partner directly with finance leadership and business stakeholders to provide insights into firm performance and strategic initiatives
  • Prepare profitability and margin analysis related to investment banking deal activity and transaction-based revenue streams
  • Analyze deal economics, expense allocations, and segment performance to identify trends and operational improvement opportunities
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls over financial reporting and accounting processes
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and broader FP\&A initiatives
  • Assist with finance transformation projects, including ERP optimization and process automation efforts
  • Develop and improve accounting policies, procedures, and process documentation
  • Support regulatory and statutory reporting requirements related to financial services and broker-dealer operations
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, Compliance, auditors, and external consultants
  • Assist with ad hoc strategic accounting and finance projects as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3–6 years of relevant accounting and finance experience
  • Prior experience within financial services, investment banking, broker-dealer, public accounting, or professional services environments preferred
  • CPA or CPA-track strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis preferred
  • Exposure to ERP implementations or finance transformation initiatives preferred
  • NetSuite experience is highly preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills and strong systems aptitude
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to interact with senior leadership
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience supporting audits and working with external auditors preferred
  • Familiarity with broker-dealer operations, investment banking revenue streams, or SEC/regulatory reporting is a plus
