Position Overview

Candescent is seeking an AI Scientist to design, develop, and deploy advanced AI-powered software solutions for banks, credit unions, and financial institutions. This role requires deep expertise in Agentic AI, Generative AI, and machine learning, along with the ability to collaborate across Product, Engineering, and Platform teams to deliver secure, scalable, and compliant AI capabilities within a modern SaaS environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Contribute to and help execute Candescent’s AI vision, aligned with product and platform strategy.
• Design, develop, and deploy AI Agents, Generative AI, and ML solutions from concept through production, ensuring quality, scalability, and timelines.
• Partner closely with Product and Engineering teams to build secure, compliant, and enterprise-grade AI capabilities across customer-facing and internal platforms.
• Identify and drive AI integration opportunities across Candescent’s digital banking products and services.
• Develop AI-powered features including fraud detection, intelligent personalization, conversational chat and voice assistants, and automation.
• Champion AI use cases in open banking, leveraging data aggregation, partner integrations, and predictive analytics to power smarter financial decisions.
• Integrate third-party AI tools and services into the platform using APIs and SDKs.
• Establish and enforce best practices for model governance, quality management, bias mitigation, responsible AI, and model explainability.
• Mentor and guide AI/ML and Agentic AI engineers, providing technical leadership and best practices.
• Stay current with emerging advancements in Agentic AI, GenAI, ML, and NLP, proposing innovative solutions to enhance Candescent’s capabilities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a related technical field.
• 0-2\+ years of hands-on experience in AI, Machine Learning, Generative AI, Agentic AI, NLP, modeling, and real-time decisioning systems.
• Strong programming expertise in Python, with demonstrated research, innovation, and production-level development experience.
• Hands-on experience with AI agents, prompt engineering, fine-tuning, transfer learning, transformers, deep learning, and applied research.
• Experience working within enterprise SaaS platforms; fintech, banking, or financial services domain experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with Conversational AI solutions and product-based technology environments.
• Proficiency in GCP cloud services, MLOps practices (CI/CD for AI/ML), API deployment (FastAPI), and vector databases.
• Familiarity with Open Banking standards, APIs, and data-sharing frameworks.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience embedding third-party AI tools/APIs into core product workflows.
• Exposure to regulatory, security, and compliance considerations in financial services.
• Experience building scalable AI systems in high-availability, customer-facing platforms.

Additional Information
