Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

*Job Summary

  • The Business Analyst, Manufacturing is responsible for driving data-driven performance improvement across machining, sheet metal, and assembly operations. This role focuses on production optimization, automation strategy, capacity planning, and cost efficiency by translating shopfloor data into actionable insights. The incumbent will work cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, Automation, and Supply Chain teams to enhance operational performance, support CAPEX decisions, and ensure alignment with customer demand and

business growth.

*Key Duties and Responsibilities

1\. Production Performance Analysis

  • Analyze operational performance across machining, sheet metal, and assembly processes
  • Monitor key KPIs including OEE, cycle time, yield, scrap rate, and labor productivity
  • Identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and capacity constraints

2\. End-to-End Process Optimization

  • Evaluate and optimize workflow across the full manufacturing value chain
  • Balance production flow between machining, sheet metal, and assembly
  • Reduce WIP, waiting time, and inter-process delays

3\. Automation Strategy and Implementation

  • Identify and prioritize automation opportunities across all processes
  • Support implementation of automation solutions such as robotic handling, welding automation, and semi-automated assembly systems
  • Ensure automation initiatives deliver measurable improvements in productivity, quality, and cost

4\. Capacity Planning and Line Balancing

  • Develop integrated capacity models aligned with production demand
  • Support demand planning and loading for key customers
  • Perform line balancing for assembly operations and optimize machine and manpower utilization

5\. Cycle Time and Cost Optimization

  • Validate and improve cycle times across machining, sheet metal, and assembly
  • Analyze cost drivers including scrap, rework, and manual handling
  • Recommend and implement cost reduction initiatives

6\. Data Visualization and Reporting

  • Develop and maintain real-time dashboards for production output, WIP tracking, and operational status
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and accessibility of production data
  • Automate reporting processes to improve efficiency and decision-making

7\. Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Act as a liaison between Production, Engineering, Automation, and Supply Chain teams
  • Translate operational requirements into data-driven insights and actionable plans
  • Support alignment of production activities with business objectives

8\. Quality and Yield Improvement

  • Analyze defect trends and identify root causes across all manufacturing processes
  • Support initiatives to reduce defects, rework, and variability
  • Promote process standardization and error-proofing (poka-yoke)

9\. CAPEX Evaluation and Business Case Development

  • Develop business cases for capital investments including machinery and automation systems
  • Provide ROI analysis covering productivity gains, cost savings, and payback period
  • Support management decision-making on capacity expansion and investment priorities

10\. Continuous Improvement Initiatives

  • Drive Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Standardize best practices across similar processes and workstations
  • Ensure sustainability and long-term impact of implemented improvements

*Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business Analytics, or related field

*Type of Working Experience:

  • Minimum 4–8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in precision machining, sheet metal fabrication, and/or assembly operations preferred
  • Exposure to high-mix, low-volume production environments is an advantage

*Knowledge / Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (Excel, Power BI, SQL)
  • Experience with ERP/MES data extraction and integration
  • Ability to leverage AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Copilot, Python-based tools) to enhance data analysis, reporting automation, and decision-making
  • Experience in automating workflows and improving reporting efficiency using digital or AI-enabled tools is an advantage
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies is preferred
