The Sample Collection Division is currently seeking a candidate for a Microbiologist Technician.  The ideal candidate will have a clear understanding of quality control and at least 1 year of related experience; ISO experience is a plus. Additionally, the candidate will have demonstrated proficiency in documentation, aseptic technique, investigations, and teamwork.

The selected candidate will be responsible for supporting finished goods/raw materials, supporting environmental monitoring, maintaining the lab, following all SOPs, monitoring equipment, and maintaining records. Additional responsibilities include supporting robust investigations that determine accurate root causes, actively participating in continuous improvement programs of the site, and promoting a safety focused environment.

DESCRIPTION:

Performs Microbiology Laboratory tasks for purposes of quality control, quality assurance, and technology transfer by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure laboratory compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Routine testing of samples supporting incoming raw materials and finished products.
  • Administration of the environmental monitoring program
  • Participates in investigations on microbial data deviations.
  • Equipment/method troubleshooting
  • Equipment validation, qualification, calibration, and preventative maintenance
  • Maintenance of the data archives and samples
  • Documents/reviews laboratory work using laboratory notebooks/worksheets that is detailed, timely and in compliance with GLP/cGMP requirements.
  • Documents all changes in the change control system
  • Compile data to support trending program.
  • Order chemicals and laboratory supplies as needed.
  • Possesses the ability to identify, analyze, and work towards correcting potential hazards
  • Maintains strictest standards of hygiene in laboratory area.
  • Performs/facilitates quality audits on procedures, as well as on documents being used to perform these procedures.
  • Participates in QA functions of the QCU including document control and review, label control and approval, calibrations, room and equipment log review, room cleaning approvals, and other quality functions as assigned by the Senior Quality Manager.
  • Contributes to the development and execution of sampling stability plans for current products and development projects.
  • Participates in quality management system requirements including following departmental work instructions, creating records, document control, and addressing corrective and preventative actions.
  • Maintains retention storage of all product/product components and reagents.
  • Sets up and performs studies on materials, components, or products that measure performance, shelf life, and/or product characteristics.
  • Follows safety procedures and company policies

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology, Biology, or related scientific field preferred.
  • Minimum 1 year of related laboratory experience; ISO experience is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of quality control, aseptic technique, and microbiological assays.
  • Excellent skills in documentation, problem-solving, investigation, and teamwork.
  • Familiarity with GLP/cGMP standards, laboratory equipment, and safety procedures.
