Senior Software Engineer

About The Opportunity

A client is looking for a senior backend engineer with at least 4 years of production Go experience who can thrive in an early-stage startup environment. You should be comfortable operating independently with high autonomy, designing systems from scratch, and holding a high bar for security and code quality. Bonus points if you have experience in identity/access management, fintech, or other high-stakes domains. This is a full-time remote position. Canddiates must be based in the United States and be able to work within the Eastern (ET) or Pacific (PT) time zones.

Job Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable, secure backend services for our enterprise identity platform from the ground up.
• Take ownership of API design across web and service-to-service boundaries, database schema modeling, and system architecture.
• Work closely with product and design from the earliest stages to shape what gets built, not just how.
• Build and operate distributed, high-availability systems with enterprise-scale reliability requirements.
• Maintain our "secure by design" product principle by implementing security best practices across the stack.
• Translate product and design requirements into detailed engineering architecture and design documents.
• Contribute to engineering culture, practices, and hiring as an early team member.

Job Qualifications

• 4\+ years of experience writing production Go in backend systems.
• Production Go proficiency.
• Built and operated distributed backend systems in production.
• Early- stage startup experience (seed to Series B).
• Bachelors Degree in CS or a related field.
• API design and database schema design (SQL, ideally Postgres).
• A clear and concise communicator who can explain technical topics to non- technical audiences.
• An approachable individual who people genuinely enjoy working with.

Nice To Have Skills

• Kubernetes and CI/CD pipeline experience.
• Observability tooling (metrics, alerting, request tracing).
