The University of Auckland is delivering a significant Finance Transformation Programme to implement a new Finance ERP and supporting ecosystem. We are seeking a

Data Architect (Digital Solutions Architect)

to help shape the data and information architecture that will underpin this new environment.

Reporting to the Solutions Architecture Manager, you will play a key role in designing data models, data flows and shared standards across the finance landscape, spanning the ERP, adjacent finance systems and analytics platforms. You’ll work collaboratively to ensure alignment with our enterprise data principles, integration patterns and architectural guidelines.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing the Finance Data \& Information Layer, including conceptual and logical models for areas such as Chart of Accounts, Cost Centres, Customers, Suppliers, Projects and Assets.
  • Supporting the definition of key data sources, data ownership and lineage for core finance datasets.
  • Co-designing data flows between the ERP and systems such as Workday HCM, Student Management, banking, procurement and Snowflake.
  • Contributing to data quality and control requirements and providing input into solution design reviews.
  • Working with programme teams on data migration and cutover planning, and creating clear documentation, glossaries and artefacts to support consistent use of finance data.

This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a transformative programme and help create a reliable, well-structured and future focused finance data environment for the University.

Please note this is a

full-time

(37\.5hours/week)

fixed-term (24-month)

position, with a salary range of $155,000 - $175,000 per annum depending on skills and experience.

He kōrero mōu \| About you

You will have:

  • Proven experience in data architecture or information architecture roles on large-scale ERP or finance transformation programmes, ideally in complex or federated organisations.
  • Strong background in finance domain data such as GL, AP, AR, Fixed Assets, Projects, Procurement and Reporting, with the ability to engage confidently with Finance stakeholders and vendors.
  • Practical experience with cloud data and integration patterns such as REST APIs, event streaming and managed file transfers, and with at least one major ERP or finance platform.
  • Experience designing or governing enterprise data models, master data management approaches and data lineage for core business domains.
  • Understanding of data security, privacy and compliance requirements relevant to financial data, including controls such as RBAC or ABAC, data masking and audit trails.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to produce clear data models, specifications and documentation and to collaborate effectively across Architecture, IT, Finance and vendor teams.
