Tulon Photonics is a deep-tech startup developing the next generation of laser systems. Our patented SquashLock technology enables ultra-low noise and widely tunable lasers that outperform current industry standards by a factor of ten. We target high-growth markets such as quantum technologies, fiber-optic sensing, and next-generation satellite communications. With a functional prototype (TRL 4/5) and initial industry engagement, we are now entering the critical phase of industrialization and market entry.

Your Role

As CTO and Co-Founder, you will be the technical visionary and the driving force behind scaling our innovation. You will lead the transition from a laboratory prototype to a series-ready industrial product (TRL 8/9). You are a strategist who is not afraid to be "hands-on" during the early stages.

Key Responsibilities

• Industrialization \& Planning:

Lead the development of our "Minimum Sellable Product" (MSP) and design a scalable production process in Europe.

• Team Building \& Leadership:

Recruit a world-class engineering team (Optics, Electronics, Mechanical/CAD) and establish structured development processes.

• Technology Ambassador:

Act as the technical face of the company, communicating our complex laser technology clearly and convincingly to investors and industrial partners (OEMs, research labs).

• R\&D Strategy:

Develop and execute the long-term technological roadmap, including expanding our portfolio to new wavelength ranges beyond the telecom band.

Your Profile

• Academic Background:

PhD or extensive professional experience in Laser Physics, Photonics, or a related high-tech field.

• Hands-on Expertise:

Proven experience in building, aligning, and characterizing complex laser systems or opto-electronic devices.

• Structured Thinker:

The ability to break down complex scientific challenges into clear, actionable engineering milestones and industrial workflows.

• Entrepreneurial Mindset:

You understand market requirements (e.g., cost efficiency through off-the-shelf components) and can balance technical perfection with commercial viability.

• Communication:

Fluency in English (German is a plus). You are comfortable navigating both academic circles and high-stakes business environments.
