Job Description
The Senior Analyst, Business Development \& Portfolio Strategy will play a critical role in supporting the identification, evaluation, and execution of strategic business development opportunities across Torrent's North American Generics, Biosimilars, and Specialty portfolio. Reporting directly to the Vice President, Business Development \& Portfolio, this individual will lead the analytical foundation of transaction evaluation, including market research, competitive intelligence, forecasting, valuation, and business case development.
The ideal candidate combines strong quantitative and market assessment capabilities with excellent communication skills and intellectual curiosity. Over time, the role will evolve to include increasing exposure to transaction execution, due diligence, deal structuring, and external partner interactions.

Key Responsibilities
Market Intelligence \& Opportunity Assessment
- C
onduct comprehensive market research and competitive assessments to evaluate licensing, acquisition, and strategic partnership opportunities.
- Develop actionable insights through analysis of pharmaceutical industry trends, generic market dynamics, pricing environments, supply considerations, and competitive landscapes.
- Monitor competitor pipelines, FDA filings and approvals, product launches, patent developments, and other industry events relevant to potential opportunities.
- Analyze and interpret IQVIA, IPD, FDA, and other commercial and regulatory databases to support opportunity assessments and portfolio decision-making.
- Perform ad hoc analyses and strategic projects in support of executive leadership requests.
Financial Modeling \& Business Case Development
- Build and maintain commercial forecasts for prospective products, portfolios, and business development opportunities.
- Develop valuation models and financial analyses, including valuations and scenario analyses.
- Clean, organize, and synthesize large datasets from multiple sources to support opportunity evaluation and strategic decision-making.
- Prepare investment recommendations and supporting business cases for senior management review.
- Independently develop key commercial assumptions through research, data analysis, and market intelligence.
Transaction Support
- Support the evaluation and execution of licensing and acquisition opportunities.
- Participate in due diligence efforts, including data review, risk assessment, and functional coordination.
- Assist with transaction-related documentation, including confidentiality agreements, term sheets, diligence materials, and definitive agreements.
- Support deal valuation discussions and transaction structuring analyses.
- Attend partner meetings, diligence discussions, and negotiation sessions as part of the transaction team.
Communication \& Stakeholder Management
- Develop clear, concise presentations and executive-level materials to communicate findings and recommendations.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues across North America, India, and other global locations.
- Build effective working relationships across a multicultural and geographically distributed organization.
- Present analytical findings to internal stakeholders and gradually develop external-facing business development capabilities.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in a quantitative, scientific, business, economics, engineering, pharmacy, or related discipline.
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in pharmaceutical business development, commercial analytics, portfolio strategy, management consulting, corporate strategy, or related fields.
- Advanced Excel skills and proven experience performing quantitative analysis and financial modeling.
- Experience analyzing pharmaceutical market data and developing commercial forecasts.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking capabilities.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within global and cross-cultural teams.
Preferred
- Generic pharmaceutical industry experience.
- Experience working with IQVIA, IPD, and FDA data sources.
- Familiarity with pharmaceutical licensing, acquisitions, or related transaction activities.
- Exposure to biosimilars and specialty pharmaceutical markets.
- Experience using modern analytical and AI-enabled research tools.
