Your Opportunity to Grow With Us
Are you a natural dispatcher and problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced environment? Do you enjoy coordinating moving parts, communicating with customers and team members, and finding solutions when plans change?
City Rent A Truck and City Truck Upfitters are looking for a Logistics Manager to coordinate the movement of fleet vehicles across our organization. This role serves as the central dispatch point for our fleet, coordinating transportation between customer locations, branch yards, and locations across the CRAT network.
This is a hands-on position where you will be responsible for getting the right vehicle to the right place at the right time. You will coordinate internal and contracted drivers, communicate delivery and pickup plans, work with customers and branch teams, and ensure vehicles in transit meet DOT and FMCSA requirements.
This role is ideal for someone who is organized, resourceful, and comfortable switching between the phone, computer systems, and the driver's seat. When a driver is unavailable or a move is time-sensitive, you may be called upon to personally move a vehicle. No two days will be exactly the same, and you'll need to be comfortable adapting to changing priorities and solving problems as they arise.
About the role:
- Schedule the transportation of fleet vehicles to and from customer locations, between CRAT locations and yards, and for other company transportation needs.
- Coordinate internal and contracted drivers based on daily transportation needs while balancing coverage, cost, and timing.
- Communicate with sales staff, branch managers, and team members regarding vehicle movement and maintain accurate records in rental software and CRM systems.
- Communicate directly with customers regarding vehicle deliveries and pickups, setting clear expectations and confirming details.
- Coordinate travel plans for drivers, including routing, addresses, contact information, supply checklists, and fuel cards.
- Move fleet vehicles personally when a driver is unavailable or a move is time-sensitive.
- Manage logistics for asset recovery and coordinate the return of vehicles from customer sites and other locations.
- Facilitate transportation through third-party vendors and contracted carriers when internal capacity is limited.
- Post available vehicle moves on load boards and coordinate with outside transportation companies that pick up trucks in bulk.
- Negotiate timing, pricing, and pickup logistics with outside transportation providers.
- Ensure all vehicles in transport adhere to DOT and FMCSA requirements.
- Maintain accurate transportation records and documentation to support compliance and operational visibility.
- Build and manage relationships with third-party transportation vendors while holding them accountable to service and safety standards.
- Step in and provide support wherever needed, including assisting shop personnel and drivers.
- Overcome obstacles, troubleshoot complex problems, and adapt to ever-changing situations.
- Be willing to roll up your sleeves and help wherever needed to keep operations moving.
- Champion the company's core values of Customer First, Teamwork, Problem Solvers, and Leave It All on the Field.
- Perform other relevant duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Two \+ years of logistics scheduling experience
- Outstanding organizational skills.
- Strong knowledge of DOT compliance
- Strong ability to evaluate and negotiate all related department decisions while establishing rates, delivery time frames, and acceptable timelines for dispatching.
- Must have proficient computer navigation skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- A Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Balance and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to perform under pressure.
Preferred Qualifications
- CDL Driver’s License
- Bachelor's (Preferred)
