About the Opportunity
Henis Group is conducting a search for an experienced
Plant Operations Manager
to lead operations for an established manufacturing facility in the North Carolina Triad area.
This is a high-impact leadership role for a hands-on, data-driven manufacturing professional who can improve production performance, strengthen frontline leadership, and drive operational excellence.
The ideal candidate will bring strong experience in furniture, woodworking, upholstery, sewn products, custom fabrication, or a closely related manufacturing environment.
This person will oversee daily production, safety, quality, staffing, workflow, facility performance, and continuous improvement while partnering closely with senior leadership to support long-term growth.
What You’ll Do
- Lead daily manufacturing and facility operations across production departments and shifts
- Build a strong culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
- Coach and develop production managers, supervisors, and hourly manufacturing teams
- Track and improve KPIs related to safety, quality, productivity, labor, cost, inventory, and on-time delivery
- Ensure production schedules and customer commitments are met safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively
- Apply Lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and improve workflow
- Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements related to staffing, equipment, automation, layout, and process flow
- Partner with purchasing and inventory teams to maintain material flow and prevent production delays
- Oversee quality performance from incoming materials through finished goods
- Support new product introductions by evaluating manufacturability, labor needs, capabilities, and cost
- Maintain compliance with OSHA, environmental regulations, and applicable manufacturing standards
- Lead facility audits, safety training, incident prevention, and corrective-action efforts
What We’re Looking For
- 10\+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience
- Prior experience leading a plant, production facility, or major manufacturing operation
- Background in woodworking, furniture production, upholstery, sewing, custom fabrication, or a closely related manufacturing environment
- Proven ability to lead managers, supervisors, and hourly production teams
- Experience implementing Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, or Six Sigma methodologies
- Strong understanding of production planning, labor management, quality control, inventory, safety, and operational KPIs
- Experience with equipment improvements, automation projects, workflow optimization, or facility layout improvements
- Strong communication, decision-making, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Manufacturing Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field preferred
