Company Description
Obsidian CIO is the first technology-driven OCIO purpose-built for independent RIAs. We partner with advisors to deliver institutional-caliber investment solutions — spanning model portfolios, alternatives, tax optimization, and cash management — giving them the capabilities of a large firm without sacrificing customization or control. Our mission is simple: empower advisors to deepen client relationships, scale their practices, and compete at the highest level.
Role Description
This is a full-time Senior Investment Analyst position based in Manhattan, NY, with flexibility for some remote work. The Senior Investment Analyst will play a central role in Obsidian's investment process — conducting rigorous due diligence across mutual funds, ETFs, and alternative strategies, building and maintaining financial models, evaluating portfolio performance, and supporting strategic asset allocation decisions. The role also includes monitoring market trends, generating investment recommendations, and contributing to the customized portfolio solutions we deliver to our RIA partners and their clients.
Qualifications
- Strong proficiency in investments and portfolio management, with a solid understanding of asset allocation across public and private markets
- Highly analytical, with demonstrated experience evaluating market data, identifying investment opportunities, and building financial models
- Knowledge of macroeconomic trends and their implications for multi-asset portfolios
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate complex investment ideas into clear, advisor-ready materials
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial analysis tools; experience with portfolio analytics platforms is a plus
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to work effectively across teams in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, or a related field required; CFA designation (or progress toward it) preferred
- Minimum 3 years of prior experience in investment analysis, portfolio management, or a related role required
