Job Summary

The

Director, IT Infrastructure

is a senior leadership role responsible for owning the full stack of infrastructure disciplines at Loenbro, including systems administration, network engineering, cloud architecture, virtualization, storage, and backup/DR. This role consolidates Systems Administration, Network Administration, and Infrastructure Engineering under unified technical leadership, reporting to the Sr. Director, IT Operations.

The ideal candidate has walked each layer of the infrastructure stack earlier in their career and now leads with both strategic direction and hands-on credibility. This is a player-coach position for someone equally comfortable in an architecture conversation and a war room.

Essential Job Responsibilities

Team Leadership

  • Lead and develop a team spanning systems, network, and cloud disciplines; define career pathways and conduct regular performance conversations.
  • Serve as the primary escalation point for infrastructure incidents and complex technical decisions.
  • Partner with the Sr. Director, IT Operations on headcount planning, budget, and multi-year infrastructure roadmap.

Cloud and Azure

  • Own Azure infrastructure strategy, including subscriptions, governance guardrails, landing zone standards, and resource lifecycle policy.
  • Lead cloud architecture decisions aligned to the M365 E3/E5 direction and Entra ID hybrid-to-cloud migration.
  • Manage Azure cost governance, tagging standards, and FinOps practices.

Systems and Server Infrastructure

  • Own the Windows Server environment, including patching, lifecycle management, Active Directory, and hybrid identity.
  • Own the virtualization platform (VMware vSphere and/or Hyper-V), including capacity planning, upgrades, and host cluster architecture.
  • Manage physical server hardware lifecycle, firmware, and data center/co-location relationships.

Network Engineering

  • Provide senior technical oversight of Loenbro's network infrastructure, including routing, switching, VLAN segmentation, firewall policy, and WAN architecture.
  • Own network design standards for corporate and field site deployments, including Starlink, LTE/cellular, and VPN connectivity.
  • Lead BGP and/or SD-WAN design decisions as the organization's site footprint expands through growth and M\&A.

Storage, Backup, and DR

  • Own the enterprise storage platform (SAN/NAS) and backup infrastructure, including retention policy and offsite/cloud replication.
  • Set and own RTO/RPO targets for all infrastructure platforms; lead DR runbook development and testing on a defined cadence.

M\&A, Governance, and Reporting

  • Lead infrastructure discovery, network interconnect design, and workload migration planning for M\&A integration events.
  • Provide monthly KPI reporting on infrastructure health, capacity, backup success rates, network uptime, and Azure spend.
  • Support SOC 2, NIST 800-171, and CIS v8 audit activities by maintaining evidence of infrastructure controls.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

10\+ years of infrastructure experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.

Demonstrated career progression across multiple disciplines; systems administration, network engineering, and/or cloud infrastructure experience strongly preferred.

Hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure (IaaS/PaaS); architecture experience beyond basic VM management required.

Deep experience with Windows Server, Active Directory, and hybrid identity environments.

Enterprise networking experience, including routing, VLANs, firewalls, BGP, and WAN technologies.

Experience with enterprise virtualization (VMware vSphere and/or Hyper-V) and backup/DR solutions (Veeam, Azure Backup, or equivalent).

Proficiency with PowerShell for infrastructure automation and administration.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered

Preferred

  • Microsoft Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305); networking certifications (CCNP, CCNA, or equivalent).
  • VMware Certified Professional (VCP) or equivalent; ITIL Foundations certification.
  • Experience with M\&A infrastructure integration events.
  • Familiarity with field operations environments (construction, industrial, energy), including Starlink and cellular WAN solutions.
