Typical Day in the Role
- Purpose of the Team: The team supports Xbox Game Studios Publishing as the internal web team responsible for building and maintaining video game websites, primarily on WordPress, and ensuring reliable, high‑quality web experiences for game titles
- Key projects: This role will contribute to migrating existing WordPress websites to a new hosting platform, supporting ongoing development and maintenance of multiple Xbox Game Studios websites (including Flight Simulator and other titles), and assisting with automation, pipelines, and web infrastructure improvements.
Candidate Requirements
- Disqualifiers: Candidates will not be eligible if they show consistent short tenures or frequent job changes that are not project‑based, as this indicates patchy work history.
- Best vs. Average: The ideal resume would contain experience working on large‑scale WordPress sites (such as schools, universities, or newspapers)

The Xbox Game Studios Publishing Team is looking for a talented WordPress developer to migrate our existing websites to a new hosting solution. Additionally, the candidate will assist us in updating our Sage 9 WordPress themes to Sage 11\. We build build scalable, engaging, community-focused, user-friendly, and accessible websites. The ideal candidate has experience in both back-end \& front-end web development utilizing WordPress.

Candidate Requirements
- 3 - 5 years of experience in Web Developer space
- Experience migrating WordPress websites between hosting platforms
- Experience updating Sage WordPress starter theme versions 9 through 11
- Solid PHP back-end development skills
- Deep understanding of front-end technologies, including HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery
- Working knowledge \& usage of WordPress core functions, filters \& actions
- Experience with build pipelines and automation tools such as Webpack, NPM \& Yarn
- Understanding of the server-side CSS preprocessor SASS
- Prior usage of Bootstrap CSS Framework
- Experience with git or similar version control
- Experience with cross-browser \& device testing
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related degree, or equivalent work experience
Preferred
- Familiarity with Azure
- Familiarity with automated testing
- Familiarity with agile development processes
- Knowledge of user authentication and authorization
