About the role
This role is a Procurement \& Sourcing professional in the agri/feed manufacturing ecosystem, focused on ensuring consistent, cost-effective supply of raw materials while building strong market intelligence and supplier networks.
At a high level, the individual will own end-to-end procurement of agri-commodities and related inputs, including sourcing, vendor development, purchase execution, and logistics coordination. A key part of the role is staying closely connected to the market—through on-ground crop surveys, farmer interactions, and tracking price/supply trends—to anticipate risks and optimize buying decisions.
The role also has a strong analytical and digital focus, leveraging ERP systems like SAP ERP, e-auctions, and data tools to improve transparency, reporting, and decision-making. In addition, the person will drive cost optimization initiatives, manage supplier performance, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure uninterrupted plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
:
Sourcing \& Procurement
- Manage end-to-end sourcing of raw materials such as agri-commodities, fuel items, packing materials etc required for feed manufacturing
- Spares and consumables planning and procurement in close coordination with Production and Stores function
- Develop and execute short term and long-term procurement strategies to address demand–supply gaps and optimize costs.
- Continuously identify and introduce new raw materials/vendors to enhance product portfolio and cost-effectiveness
- Creation of Purchase Orders, follow up for delivery completion, payment processing and other transactions involved in Procure-2-pay cycle
Market Research \& Analysis
- Conduct detailed on-field crop surveys by travelling to source /producing markets, direct farmer interactions
- Track domestic and global market trends, price movements, and supply chain dynamics to anticipate risks and opportunities.
- Must be ready to travel extensively across India for vendor development, crop surveys, assess market trends and resolve business challenges
Technology \& Digital
- Leverage ERP platforms (e.g., SAP ) for procurement operations, reporting, and analytics.
- Use E-Auction, digital sourcing tools, and mobile apps to enhance transparency and drive competitive buying.
- Apply data analytics and dashboards for real-time tracking of commodity prices, inventory, and supplier performance.
- Contribute to digital transformation initiatives in procurement by automating reports, improving MIS, and adopting advanced tools for decision-making.
Logistics \& release item selling
- Oversee inbound logistics operations required for timely delivery of material by optimal route and cost
- Maximise cost of resale items like released packing material, scrap etc through use of technology and vendor development.
- Apply tools and techniques to reduce logistics costs across key raw materials.
Supplier Relationship Management
- Conduct supplier visits and engage directly with vendors to evaluate and improve performance on business-critical parameters
- Drive supplier performance management programs to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Leverage organizational strengths to expand and maintain a competitive vendor base with long-term relationships.
Business \& Stakeholder Collaboration
- Strong team management skills to manage mid-sized direct reporting team
- Partner with cross-functional teams to implement sourcing strategies and ensure supply continuity.
- Achieve On-Time Delivery (OTD) targets and secure uninterrupted plant operations.
- Ensure compliance with organizational value systems, internal controls, and reporting requirements.
- Identify, implement, and drive cost saving initiatives within region
Education
:
- Post Graduation (MBA in Agri Business preferred)
Experience
:
- Minimum 3-5 years of relevant experience in agri-commodities, feed, or allied industries.
- Proven expertise in:
- Strategic sourcing and procurement
- Market intelligence and analytics
- Supplier performance management
- Working knowledge of SAP, E-Auction platforms, and digital procurement tools is desirable.
- High willingness to travel extensively across geographies for supplier visits and market intelligence
