We are seeking a highly capable
Business Analyst (BA)
or
Business Systems Analyst (BSA)
to support the delivery of our client's merchant services and acquiring platform modernization initiatives. Working closely with the Technical Product Owner, this role is responsible for translating business objectives into detailed functional requirements, process flows, user stories, and technical specifications that enable successful software delivery. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in merchant services, particularly transaction lifecycles, pricing, and interchange, along with experience supporting complex software initiatives within banking or financial services.
Responsibilities:
- Partner with the Technical Product Owner to refine and maintain the product backlog, ensuring requirements are well-defined, prioritized, and ready for development.
- Elicit, analyze, and document business, functional, and non-functional requirements through collaboration with business stakeholders, architects, engineering teams, and subject matter experts.
- Translate merchant acquiring workflows, business requirements, and customer problems into clear user stories, process flows, acceptance criteria, and supporting documentation.
- Create and maintain business process models, workflow diagrams, data mappings, and functional specifications that support solution design and implementation.
- Collaborate with engineering teams throughout the development lifecycle to clarify requirements, answer functional questions, and validate proposed solutions.
- Support backlog refinement, sprint planning, and other Agile ceremonies by ensuring stories are sufficiently detailed, estimated, and ready for implementation.
- Assist the Technical Product Owner in translating customer needs and strategic priorities into structured implementation plans.
- Partner with architects, engineering leads, QA, and integration teams to identify dependencies, resolve ambiguities, and ensure complete solution definition.
- Support integration efforts across internal platforms and third-party systems by documenting interfaces, data flows, business rules, and integration requirements.
- Participate in SAFe PI Planning and related Agile ceremonies, helping coordinate requirements, dependencies, and cross-team alignment.
- Validate completed functionality against documented requirements and acceptance criteria, partnering with QA and business stakeholders to ensure successful delivery.
- Ensure business requirements and deliverables support quality, scalability, reliability, and maintainability within high-volume transaction environments.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of business analysis practices, documentation standards, and delivery processes.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
- 5\+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably supporting enterprise software delivery within fintech or banking.
- Experience gathering and documenting business requirements for complex software systems.
- Experience working with engineering teams across modern backend platforms (e.g., Java), including distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
- Strong experience writing user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, and functional documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of merchant acquiring, including transaction lifecycles, pricing, and interchange.
- Experience supporting complex, enterprise-scale software initiatives within banking or financial services organizations.
- Experience operating within the SAFe framework, including PI Planning, backlog refinement, and cross-team coordination.
- Experience documenting APIs, integrations, and data mappings.
- Familiarity with payment processing platforms, financial ledger systems, or pricing engines.

- Proficient with Agile tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence) and experienced in backlog refinement, sprint planning, and requirements management.
- Ability to manage multiple workstreams while maintaining organization, traceability, and documentation quality.
