About The Role
The Human Resources department at NYISO is seeking a dedicated and experienced Human Resources Generalist to join our team on a full-time basis. This role involves partnering closely with Human Resources Managers to deliver specialized support across various HR functions, including performance management, succession planning, employee lifecycle management, and policy development. The HR Generalist will serve as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders, providing strategic advice, administrative support, and project management to enhance HR processes and initiatives. A significant aspect of this role involves leading the implementation of a new performance management system and updating related processes to align with organizational goals. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Minimum of 3 years of professional Human Resources experience
- Professional certification such as PHR or CPC (preferred but not mandatory)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze data, interpret regulations, and develop clear reports and communications
- Demonstrated critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Understanding of compliance standards including OFCCP, DOL, and internal HR policies
Responsibilities
- Advise management on the development and administration of HR policies, plans, and practices, ensuring consistency and compliance
- Act as a liaison with internal business units to facilitate HR-related tasks and initiatives
- Provide comprehensive support throughout the employee lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, promotions, transfers, and terminations
- Assist in processing HR expenses and contribute to departmental budgeting efforts
- Develop, revise, and communicate HR policies, procedures, and related documentation
- Draft and distribute effective HR communications to employees
- Support and coordinate performance management and succession planning activities, including tracking and documentation
- Participate in professional development activities such as training sessions and seminars to ensure ongoing compliance and learning
- Maintain accurate, audit-ready records in accordance with confidentiality and compliance standards
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with vendors, benefits providers, and internal partners to resolve issues efficiently
- Lead or assist with special projects as assigned by senior management
- Support employee relations efforts, including documentation and meeting coordination
- Contribute to the development of employee programs such as the Dual Career Path Program
