Software Engineer II

About The Role

At Uber, we are building a Graph Engineering team to design, implement, and operate a next-generation graph platform. As a Software Engineer II, you will help build and maintain a large-scale graph infrastructure that powers critical business use cases and agentic AI experiences across the company. You will collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional partners in Product, AI/ML, Risk, Security, and Platforms to unlock the full potential of Uber's connected data.

What The Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points

• Design and implement new features for the Graph Platform at Uber.
• Join on call rotation, driving continuous improvements on system availability, scalability, performance and efficiency.
• Collaborate with other infrastructure teams, product teams and product managers to drive adoption and standardize processes, and to design and implement high impact, cross-product features.

Basic Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
• 2\+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proficient in one of the following programming languages: Java, Go, C/C\+\+ or similar languages.
• Experience in building large-scale distributed systems
• Systematic problem-solving approach and knowledge of algorithms, data structures and complexity analysis.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3\+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience building and operating graph systems/databases (such as Neo4j) and Cypher-based or equivalent graph DSL
• Experience with highly available/fault-tolerant, replicated data storage systems, large-scale data processing systems, or enterprise/cloud storage systems is also a strong plus

For Sunnyvale, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$171,000 per year - USD$190,000 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award \& other types of comp. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in a 401(k) plan.
