GA’s Survivability group has an exciting position available for a Survivability Research Scientist to support the design and development of advanced materials to support a variety of platforms.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Candidate will be responsible for the design and fabrication of various thin film products as the lead Survivability representative for technical direction of numerous customer funded and GA internally funded programs.
- The successful candidate will be able to work with a variety of stakeholders including writing technical work instructions for operations team, program managers to ensure projects are meeting technical and cost targets, and brief both internal leadership and external customers on technical progress on these efforts.
- The successful candidate will understand the phenomenology of thin film deposition, the ability to manipulate various CEM codes to model and predict the performance of thin films, and to use various forms of thin film deposition equipment to generate target properties.
- Ensure compliance, reporting, and safety standards are maintained. Work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures.
- Observe all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.

Job Qualifications
- Typically requires a bachelors degree, masters degree or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline from an accredited institution and progressive engineering experience as follows; twelve or more years of experience with a bachelors degree, ten or more years of experience with a masters degree, or seven or more years with a PhD. May substitute equivalent engineering experience in lieu of education.
- Experience with thin film materials development.
- Experience in developing and executing design of experiments.
- Strong written and oral communications skills.
- Strong team player with leadership potential qualities. The successful candidate will work under general supervision, following established procedures.
- Demonstrated technical expertise and application of engineering principles, concepts, theory, and practice in a relevant industry and product.
- Must possess the ability to contribute to the development of new concepts and principles.
- Experience developing and fabricating composite structures with an emphasis on low observable materials and structures.
- Demonstrated experience integrating LO compatible systems into aircraft platforms.
Job Type: Full-Time Salary
Salary range: 116,480 - 208,505
