Job Description

DevOps Engineer

Amplifire is seeking a DevOps Engineer who enjoys improving real-world systems, reducing operational friction, and delivering meaningful outcomes. This role is ideal for someone who values practical solutions over theoretical perfection and takes pride in making steady, measurable improvements to how software is built, deployed, and operated.

As part of the Operations team, alongside other DevOps engineers, our DBA, and our Sys/Network Administrator, you'll work closely with engineering teams to improve and modernize our infrastructure and delivery processes. We're actively investing in how software is delivered and operated, with initiatives focused on deployment modernization, automation, infrastructure standardization, and reducing operational burden across the engineering organization.

Our environment is evolving, and this role focuses on making it better through thoughtful, incremental changes that increase reliability, reduce risk, and simplify day-to-day work.

We're looking for someone who can take ownership of problems, work effectively in a collaborative environment, and consistently turn ideas into delivered outcomes. Success in this role requires balancing long-term improvements with immediate needs, focusing on changes that provide real value rather than chasing idealized end-state architectures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes to reduce manual effort, increase reliability, and lower deployment risk. (Currently Jenkins, evolving toward GitHub Actions)
  • Identify opportunities to automate and standardize infrastructure management through practical tooling and Infrastructure as Code practices when they provide measurable operational value.
  • Support and evolve our containerization strategy as part of broader efforts to improve deployment consistency, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  • Partner closely with developers to simplify release workflows, improve development experience, and eliminate operational friction.
  • Collaborate with Operations team members to strengthen platform resilience, observability, and production reliability.
  • Participate in release management and production support, helping ensure safe deployments and rapid resolution of issues.
  • Investigate production challenges and identify practical automation or process improvements to prevent recurrence.
  • Break down complex initiatives into achievable steps and deliver incremental improvements that create measurable value.
  • Contribute to technical discussions by identifying risks, proposing solutions, and constructively challenging assumptions when needed.
  • Evaluate and introduce tools and practices where appropriate—but with a focus on solving real problems rather than adopting technology for its own sake.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration, shared ownership, and continuous improvement across the engineering organization.

Requirements

Qualifications

Required

  • 7\+ years of total IT or software engineering experience, including at least 4 years in a DevOps, infrastructure, or automation-focused role.
  • Strong experience with CI/CD concepts and tooling (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar).
  • Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform.
  • Experience working with AWS services across compute, storage, networking, and monitoring.
  • Working knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker, ECS and Kubernetes.
  • Strong scripting or programming skills (Python, Java, or Shell).
  • Demonstrated ability to independently drive technical work and deliver measurable improvements.
  • Experience collaborating closely with developers to improve deployment, release, and operational workflows.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust across teams.
  • Comfort working in environments with evolving priorities, competing demands, and a mix of project and operational responsibilities.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting enterprise SaaS applications in production environments.
  • Experience improving or modernizing existing infrastructure or deployment processes while maintaining production stability.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and observability platforms (CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
  • Exposure to security and compliance frameworks (SOC 2, FedRAMP, ISO 27001).
  • Experience with Agile, DevOps, and DevSecOps practices.

What Success Looks Like

In the first year, successful candidates will:

  • Reduce deployment complexity, manual steps, and operational friction across the platform.
  • Improve deployment reliability, visibility, and overall confidence in releases.
  • Deliver incremental improvements that create measurable value for both engineering teams and the business.
  • Help move key infrastructure and delivery improvements from idea to implementation.
  • Strengthen collaboration with developers and Operations by building trust and improving shared workflows.
  • Leave systems, processes, and team practices better than they found them

Salary

$130,000 - $145,000, depending on experience
