Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Chromatography Laboratory Technician to join a leading technology and research center in Valencia (Paterna Technology Park). In this role, you will be responsible for performing advanced chromatographic analyses, developing analytical methods, and ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory testing. Working within the Chemical Laboratory, you will support a wide range of analytical projects while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and scientific excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare laboratory samples, reagents, standards, and test solutions for chemical analysis.
- Perform qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses of food, water, simulants, and other materials.
- Operate and maintain advanced Liquid Chromatography (LC) systems coupled with detectors such as UV-Vis, DAD, Fluorescence, MS, MS/MS, IR, and QTOF.
- Conduct Gas Chromatography (GC) analyses using detectors including MS, MS/MS, FID, and TOF.
- Perform trace metal analysis using ICP-MS.
- Carry out molecular weight determination using Gel Permeation Chromatography (GPC).
- Analyze, interpret, and validate laboratory results, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with quality standards.
- Develop, optimize, and validate new analytical methods and laboratory procedures.
- Perform routine calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and verification of laboratory instrumentation.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory quality systems, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Report technical issues, deviations, and non-conformities to the Laboratory Coordinator and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline, preferably with a specialization in Chromatography or Analytical Chemistry.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in a chemical or analytical laboratory performing chromatography-based testing.
- Strong expertise in LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS analytical techniques.
- Experience operating chromatographic instruments and associated analytical software, such as Empower, MassLynx, UNIFI, or MassHunter.
- Knowledge of ICP-MS and GPC techniques is highly desirable.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
