Pittsburgh, PA \| Hybrid (1 Remote Day per Week)

Overview
We are partnering with a well‑established
manufacturing organization in the Pittsburgh area
to identify a
Human Resources Business Partner
with a strong
union and labor relations background
. This individual will serve as a strategic HR partner to plant leadership across
multiple manufacturing sites
, supporting both hourly and salaried populations in a fast‑paced, operations‑driven environment.
This role offers a balance of
hands‑on employee relations work
and
higher‑level HR partnership
, ideal for an HR professional who enjoys being visible on the plant floor while also influencing leaders on people strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary HR partner for multiple manufacturing locations, supporting plant leadership and operations teams
- Act as the point of contact for all
union and labor relations activities
, including grievances, investigations, disciplinary actions, and contract interpretation
- Partner with site leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, and talent strategy
- Coach and advise managers on employee relations, performance management, attendance, and corrective action
- Lead and support negotiations preparation, union communications, and ongoing labor‑management relations
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and company policies
- Drive consistency and best practices across sites while adapting to site‑specific operational needs
- Support change management initiatives tied to growth, continuous improvement, and operational excellence
- Collaborate with Centers of Excellence (TA, Comp, Benefits, L\&D) to execute HR programs at the site level
Required Experience \& Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
- 5–8\+ years of progressive HR experience in a
manufacturing or industrial environment
- Hands‑on union experience is required
(labor relations, grievance handling, CBAs)
- Proven experience supporting
multiple sites
or decentralized operations
- Strong working knowledge of employment law and labor relations best practices
- Ability to influence and challenge leaders while maintaining trusted relationships
- Comfortable operating in a fast‑paced, employee‑heavy manufacturing setting
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior HR Business Partner or Senior HR Generalist experience in unionized manufacturing
- Exposure to continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, or operational transformations
- HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP/SCP) preferred but not required
Compensation \& Work Arrangement
- Base salary range:
$100,000–$125,000
, depending on experience
