Position Title:

Special Education Teacher 1\.0 Long Term Substitute

Anticipated Employment Date:

September 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027

Anticipated Work Location/Hours:

Veronica Connor Middle School 7:25 AM to 2:25 PM

Salary:

BA Step 1 $49,447 or MA Step 1 $52,190 per GITA contract

Duties:

The role of this position will be to provide direct instruction, as well as special education support

to students at the middle school level. Must be skilled in providing differentiated and specially

designed instruction to students at all levels. Must be familiar with the New York State

Standards in ELA, math, science, and social studies at the middle school level. Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by the building or district administration.

Minimum Qualifications:

• New York State Certified Teacher in Students with Disabilities grades 7-12 or All Grades

required.

• Ability to support VCMS instructional program by providing direct instruction and consultative

services.

• Evidence of academic success at undergraduate and/or graduate levels.

• Strong work ethic and commitment to the school's mission and vision.

• Ability to communicate effectively with building administration, the student support teams, and

classroom teachers on instructional needs, assignment completion, and behavior progress.

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

• Evidence of successful classroom management skills.

• Ability to use authentic and traditional assessments to differentiate instruction and improve

student achievement.

• Ability to provide specially designed instruction and differentiated instruction at the middle school

level.

Qualifications Desired:

• Experience teaching middle school students.

• Experience in using behavior data to develop interventions.

• Strong computer skills and ability to integrate educational technology into instruction.
