Position Purpose
The Senior Art Director leads a high‑performing team, translating complex project objectives into visionary, high‑impact visual narratives that set the creative standard for dynamic TAIT experiences. With a strategic and detail‑driven approach, they ensure that every element, and every moment advances the creative vision and delivers truly immersive, memorable experiences for every guest. In addition, the Senior Art Director mentors junior design staff to elevate overall team performance and maintains a confident, client‑facing presence within the core project team, fostering trust and alignment throughout the creative process.
This position may include participation in, and preparation of, other non-project-specific assignments. Participation will be required in presentations, meetings, production meetings, field trips, research, and other projects as necessary and assigned. An Art Director may act as a representative of the Company to clients, professional organizations, and the media.
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will possess the creativity and expertise needed to lead and collaborate in developing innovative design concepts for entertainment venues. They should be a confident creative leader who works closely with project management and the broader design team to deliver designs that align with and elevate the guest experience. Additionally, they will play a key role in client presentations, clearly articulating the design vision and the reasoning behind creative decisions.
As a Senior Art Director, they will independently lead large‑scale projects while also mentoring and guiding junior Art Directors who may manage smaller components of the same project or their own smaller‑scale assignments.
Working collaboratively with the project team, the Senior Art Director evaluates project goals and synthesizes them into cohesive design concepts and visuals. They conceive and develop the project's visual aesthetic and communicate this vision clearly to internal teams and clients.
They are responsible for reviewing work from all project disciplines, providing expert creative input to ensure every element aligns with project goals. In addition, the Senior Art Director educates and mentors other Art Directors and team members, helping them better understand design process, strategy, and creative development. They support the team by troubleshooting design challenges and guiding solutions that maintain the integrity of the creative vision.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the development of mood boards, sketches, models, design assignments, and documentation for art director packages or presentations.
- Reviews contract design deliverables with Project Management to help develop schedules and delivery strategies.
- Mentor all junior staff, on their projects
- Responsible for all visual assets submitted to the client, ensuring accuracy, quality, and alignment with the approved creative vision.
- Lead conceiving and developing the visual aesthetic for assigned projects.
- Direct the creation of sketches, or artwork that contribute to visual design development.
- Direct all concept artists, visualization designers, production designers, graphics specialists, and show set professionals; assist with scheduling design deliverables and coaching team members to achieve high‑quality, innovative outcomes.
- Communicate aesthetic direction to team members, clients, and consultants as needed.
- Perform assigned duties in accordance with company policies, standards, and expectations
Experience
Position Requirements
- 10\+ years of relevant industry experience.
- 6-15 years of experience art directing teams of designers and artists, in the creation of marketing artwork for client use.
- Experience working directly with clients in a professional, client‑facing capacity.
Portfolio
- A portfolio demonstrating the skills and abilities required for the role from several past projects.
Education
- Formal design or art education in a spatial design related field, such assuch as architecture, theater, landscape architecture, interiors, or another relevant discipline, with an understanding of spatial planning and how to guide guests through an experience.

- Ability to strategize and solve complex design challenges with clarity and creativity.
- Strong design communication skills, with the ability to articulate rationale and thought process clearly.

- Strong knowledge of theatrical and immersive entertainment techniques relevant to the industry.

- Extensive knowledge of industry‑standard technologies, design methodologies, and creative workflows.
- Uses deep industry expertise to propose solutions to complex technical and creative challenges.

- Familiarity with contemporary visualization methods, including CG models, photo‑reference workflows, and illustration.
- Strong understanding of environments, perspective, scale, and color.
- Demonstrated understanding of inclusive, respectful design principles for a wide variety of guests and end users.
- Understands basic ADA or IBC codes related to safety and accessibility.
Collaboration \& Workflow
- Excellent verbal communication skills.

- Comfortable working in digital design environments and directing team members through remote or virtual workflows.

Softwares
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications, including InDesign, to support Art Direction package assembly (or comparable software).
- Familiarity with current design tools and workflows such as SketchUp, Blender, Revit, 3ds Max, Rhino, Lumion, Unreal Engine, Unity, Bluebeam and Enscape.
- Experience with Revit or Rhino is a plus.
