About The Job
Do you enjoy designing or implementing databases for informed decision making? Fiji has a meaningful opportunity for you!
The Ministry of Rural, Maritime Development and Disaster Management’s 10-year strategic plan prioritizes rural and maritime development to coordinate and improve rural and outer island projects. To accomplish this, the Ministry needs to develop clear data-informed policies on improving rural community infrastructure and accessibility. Regional and international organizations offering better pay can draw qualified data experts away from government work, so there is a significant need to train local people in data collection procedures. The Ministry has requested a skilled Database Technical Specialist to teach their staff to coordinate, collect, and analyze data in a central depository.
As Database Technical Specialist, you will strengthen the Ministry’s database systems to support policy formulation, project planning, and performance monitoring. Alongside your colleagues, you will manage and optimize the rural development database, ensuring data integrity, accessibility, and security.
Activities
**How you and the community will make an impact together:
Support the development, management, and maintenance of the databases related to rural development projects.
Design and implement data collection templates and tools for rural and maritime development programs.
Develop dashboards and data visualization tools to facilitate reporting and analysis.
Assist in the development of data-driven policy briefs and reports.
Train Ministry staff on data management and database usage.
Develop manuals and guidelines to support Ministry operations and impact.
You may also support additional projects that meet the community’s interests and priorities, such as youth wellness clubs.**
