As a Project Manager II, you will lead the planning, execution, and delivery of electric utility infrastructure projects within the transmission and distribution sector. Under general direction, you will oversee multiple complex capital projects, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, safety, and operational objectives. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams, engineering groups, construction management, and utility stakeholders to drive projects from initiation through closeout. You will act as an owner’s representative, supporting project execution, resolving issues, and ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with regulatory and operational standards.
Your Day-to-Day Activities
- Manage multiple transmission and distribution infrastructure projects simultaneously across various stages of execution
- Lead project planning, scheduling, budgeting, execution, monitoring, and closeout activities
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, permitting, and operations teams to drive project progress
- Support projects involving line upgrades, infrastructure replacement, load growth, maintenance, installations, and wildfire mitigation initiatives
- Track project milestones, schedules, deliverables, and budget performance to ensure successful execution
- Review and manage project documentation, including schedules, compliance records, testing procedures, and energization plans
- Facilitate coordination with local agencies, regulatory groups, and external stakeholders when required
- Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize schedule or cost impacts
- Lead project meetings and communicate progress updates to leadership and stakeholders
- Resolve project issues by coordinating priorities across cross-functional teams and business units
- Support contractor coordination, field activities, and construction management efforts
- Prepare presentations, reports, and executive-level project updates
The Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required
- 5\+ years of project management experience supporting infrastructure, construction, or utility projects
- Experience managing projects within the utility sector
- Strong understanding of project lifecycle management, including scope, schedule, and budget control
- Experience coordinating cross-functional project teams and multiple stakeholders
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive
- Ability to manage competing priorities and make informed project decisions independently
- Must be local to Southern California
You’ll Stand Out If You Have
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar credential
- Experience supporting wildfire mitigation or grid modernization initiatives
- Familiarity with Power BI or project reporting dashboards
- Experience working with transmission line, substation, or distribution system projects
- Strong understanding of utility compliance, permitting, and safety documentation
- Experience presenting project updates to senior leadership or executive stakeholders
- Strong communication, leadership, and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to mentor junior project managers or project coordinators
