Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Controller to lead all aspects of financial operations, reporting, and controls in a dynamic, project-driven organization. This role oversees accounting, financial planning, compliance, and team management while delivering accurate, timely insights to support strategic and operational decision-making. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong technical expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to drive process improvements in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting, including general ledger maintenance, month-end/year-end close processes, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
  • Manage job costing processes, ensuring accurate allocation of direct and indirect costs to projects, tracking variances, and providing detailed cost reports to project managers and leadership.
  • Perform work-in-process (WIP) reporting, including valuation, capitalization, and periodic adjustments to reflect project progress and completion status.
  • Apply percentage-of-completion accounting methods for long-term projects, calculating revenue recognition, gross profit, and related entries in accordance with GAAP.
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and intercompany transactions.
  • Prepare consolidated financial statements, cash flow forecasts, and variance analyses; deliver actionable insights on profitability, margins, and project performance.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, internal controls, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements; coordinate external audits and tax filings.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, partnering with operations to align financial goals with project timelines and business objectives.
  • Manage and mentor the accounting team, overseeing workload, performance, and professional development.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, system enhancements, and automation opportunities to increase efficiency and data accuracy.
  • Support strategic initiatives, including capital planning, cost control, and profitability analysis.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in job costing, WIP reporting, and percentage-of-completion accounting in Construction based industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum 7–9 years of progressive accounting experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite, QuickBooks, Sage, Viewpoint, or similar construction/project management software).
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and project accounting principles.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with meticulous attention to detail.
