Frontend Software Engineer

ONO AI has been engaged as a hiring partner by a well-funded fintech startup in San Francisco. Having raised almost $10M in funding, and attacking a $44B market, they're looking to appoint two Frontend Software Engineers, that enjoys deep technical thinking and working on specific frontend problems.

Our client is building embedded accounting software for the vertical SaaS platforms and neobanks that small businesses already use. Well backed and growing rapidly.

The Role

We are looking to identify two Frontend Software Engineers. You won't be building a website. You'll be building a publicly published React component library on NPM that the client's customers embed directly into their own platforms. This is a highly leveraged form of frontend engineering — with unique challenges around customisation, backwards compatibility, and internationalisation that you simply don't encounter in conventional product engineering.

What You'll Do

• Build and maintain the publicly published React component library embedded by our client's platform customers
• Solve hard frontend problems: customisation, backwards compatibility, internationalisation at component level
• Own features end-to-end — from design through to shipped component in production
• Contribute to code review and help raise the engineering bar as the team scales
• Collaborate directly with the CTO and the core engineering team on architecture and priorities

What We're Looking For

• 2–7 years of frontend engineering experience
• Production React experience building component-based UIs — not just consuming them
• Evidence of increasing responsibility or promotions earlier in your career
• Background at a high-growth startup (seed to Series D) on a real engineering team
• High ownership mentality — you take projects all the way, not just tickets
• Based in or willing to relocate to SF Bay Area; on-site 5 days/week
• US work authorisation or H-1B transfer/O-1 (no new H-1B filings supported)
