JOB DESCRIPTION

CLASSROOM TEACHER

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

Develop lesson plans for the class and individual students. Teach the students.

TYPICAL DUTIES:

1\. Exhibit affection for the child and knowledge of their needs and development.

2\. Work within the guidelines of the established curriculum and lesson plan.

3\. Determine short and long term goals for student performance.

4\. Prepare weekly lesson plans for review by the Principal

5\. Communicate with parents by regular newsletters, formal reports, and conferences when required.

6\. Plan and attend field trips for each class and occasional evening programs.

7\. Encourage positive Church/School relations.

8\. Follow basic Lutheran teaching and look for opportunities to bring Jesus into the classroom.

9\. Dress in a professional, practical manner.

10\.Attend all staff meetings and functions of the school

11\. Inform the Principal of any situation that could require administrative attention.

12\.Notify the Principal in advance of any supplies that should be ordered through the academy office.

13\.Perform any additional assignments as assigned by the Preschool Director.

14\. Insure that classroom is clean and well organized.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, QUALIFICATIONS, \& EXPERIENCE:

Education requirements include at minimum a bachelor’s degree in education and/or specific to area of study.

COMMENTS:

Perform all duties and functions as a representative of the Staff of Holy Cross Lutheran

Academy. Teachers should pay special attention to interpersonal relationships with students, staff, school, families, and the congregation. Teachers should be a positive influence on all individuals they come in contact with.
