About the Role
We are hiring a
Software Engineering Manager
to lead a growing engineering team for a healthcare technology company based in
Portland, Oregon
.
This role combines
technical leadership, team management, and architecture oversight
. The team is responsible for building and maintaining enterprise software systems that support healthcare operations and data platforms.
We are looking for a
hands-on engineering manager with a strong .NET background
who enjoys mentoring engineers, improving development processes, and delivering reliable software systems in a regulated environment.
This is a hands-on position with a 50% hands-on manager/lead.
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a
team of software engineers
- Oversee the
delivery of multiple software projects
- Translate
business requirements into scalable technical solutions
- Provide
technical guidance and architectural direction
- Ensure strong
engineering practices
(code reviews, testing, CI/CD)
- Collaborate with stakeholders to define
scope, priorities, and timelines
- Identify
technical risks and delivery challenges
- Support adoption of modern engineering tools, including
AI-assisted development tools
such as GitHub Copilot
Required Qualifications
- 6\+ years of experience managing software development teams
- 7\+ years of hands-on software engineering experience
- Strong experience with
C# and .NET / .NET Core
- Strong knowledge of
Microsoft SQL Server
- Experience delivering
enterprise-scale software systems
- Strong understanding of
software architecture, design patterns, and OOP
- Experience working in
Agile development environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with
Microsoft Azure
- Familiarity with
Angular or modern JavaScript frameworks
- Experience with
Azure DevOps or CI/CD pipelines
- Experience working in
healthcare or other regulated industries
Education
Bachelorβs degree in
Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
(or equivalent experience).
