Qualifications
- Must be certified to teach in the State of Michigan and possess one or more of the following endorsements (*currently allowed by MDE due to staffing shortage flexibility rules):
+ ZG - Elementary K-5 all subjects [K-8 All Subjects Self-Contained Classroom]
+ ZP - Upper Elementary, 3-6 Grade, Education
+ ZC - K-8 All Subjects
+ ZE - General Elementary K-6
+ ZO* - Lower Elementary Education [PK-3]
+ BQ* - English Language Arts [5-9 only]
+ EQ* - Mathematics [5-9 only]
+ DQ*- Science [5-9 only]
+ CQ*- Social Studies [5-9 only]
- Five years successful teaching experience at the elementary level
- Demonstrate mastery understanding of curriculum
- Strong leadership abilities
- Exhibit the emotional stability and physical stamina necessary for meeting the requirements of the position
- Willing to attend and/or conduct after school meetings directly related to meeting the needs of identified students in Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions
- Willing to attend summer trainings for intervention implementation
The Following Qualifications Are Strongly Preferred
- Reading specialist endorsement (state code: BR)
- Reading and Math Recovery training
- Current training in intervention strategies in the areas of math, ELA, science and social studies
- Experience with multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS)
- Experience working with paraprofessionals to support academic growth
Job Description
- Assist with grant programming for the building, including student identification, data collection, parent involvement, parent/teacher/student compacts
- Have an understanding/implement a MTSS intervention program to meet the needs of identified students at Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3
- Work with instructional coach, district math coach and classroom teachers to understand Tier 1 instruction in math and ELA to guide intervention practices in Tier 2 and Tier 3
- Create schedules for Tier 2 and Tier 3 for ELA and math intervention groups for identified students
- Provide small group Tier 2 interventions and one-on-one interventions for Tier 3 K-6 students in ELA and math
- Harvest and curate data and facilitate data meetings to identify, monitor, and exit students in the Tier 2 interventions based on literacy and math proficiency growth
- Progress monitor student performance while in intervention groups
- Maintain documentation of work with intervention students
- Provide direct supervision of intervention support staff, including training and guidance in interventions, assessment and progress monitoring for Tier 2 and Tier 3 ELA and math interventions
- Provide communication to staff regarding progress of Tier 2 and Tier 3 ELA and math intervention students
- Participate in data meetings and student assistance meetings to discuss student needs and progress in ELA and math
- Engage in systems reviews to monitor the overall implementation of the MTSS intervention room
- Work and communicate with RISE intervention implementer, instructional coach, and district math coach to implement and monitor the MTSS intervention room launch
