Smyth Industries is currently searching for an individual with Water Infrastructure Industry experience as an Electrical Engineering Technician to help enhance our current team. We provide full-service electrical, civil, manufacturing, engineering and general contracting services for the water and reclamation industry.

In your job, you will have the ability to make a difference in the water and reclamation industry by:
Scope: Works collaboratively with Project Managers, Engineers, and Senior Designers to deliver high‑quality design and drafting support for engineering consulting, manufacturing, and construction projects within the water and reclamation industry. Contributes to the development and execution of projects focused on the rehabilitation, fabrication, and construction of electrical, instrumentation and control components of water/wastewater distribution and treatment infrastructure. Consistently upholds Smyth Industries’ Policies and Procedures, supports Safety Compliance requirements, and exemplifies the company’s core Values while producing accurate and timely design work.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Technical Skills \& Learning: Be receptive to knowledge of design software and standards for civil, mechanical, or electrical water/reclamation infrastructure \| Be receptive to learning technical and consulting services in support of planning, studies, analysis, design, and construction of water/wastewater treatment and distribution systems, which may include pump/lift stations, well sites, water and sewer lines, treatment systems, and storage reservoirs \| Learn industry design standards for electrical, instrumentation and control construction and fabrication. This includes power distribution, instrumentation and controls for water/wastewater systems as well as design and fabrication of industrial control panels. Engineering \& Project Support: Provide engineering project management support on a variety of civil, mechanical, or electrical consulting, manufacturing, and construction projects \| Perform mathematical and other engineering calculations appropriate to the area of assignment \| Exhibit knowledge of engineering fundamentals \| Perform basic details and assembly drawings under supervision \| Assist in the technical work products of staff engineers performing technical tasks to support water/wastewater projects across civil, mechanical, or electrical disciplines \| Comply with, organize, and analyze project data. Collaboration \& Communication: Thrive in a team environment that encourages cooperation, communication, and mutual sharing of risk, responsibility, and reward \| Coordinate with other engineering disciplines, subconsultants, vendors, and suppliers to deliver planning and design projects \| Be willing to listen and consider different perspectives \| Embrace feedback and suggestions. Project Management \& Compliance: Learn how to meet financial objectives \| Identify potential project issues and work with the leadership team to devise and implement mitigation strategies and corrective actions \| Be ready to learn how to compile and submit permit applications to Local, State, and Federal Agencies to support delivery of design projects.
Minimum Qualifications: Intern must be enrolled in an ABET accredited engineering school with the goal of obtaining a bachelor’s degree in civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or other related field of Engineering, and have completed a minimum of one (1) year of coursework \| Possesses foundational engineering concepts through undergraduate/graduate level education \| Solid organizational, oral, and written communication skills \| Ability to interact with multi-disciplined team members \| Experience in using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PDF, Teams) \| Valid driver's license, pass MVR and drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Autodesk programs or other 2D/3D design software \| Working knowledge of CADD related software (AutoCAD) \| Effective people skills.
