Our client is a well-established, middle-market private equity investment firm with a long-term investment philosophy and a strong track record of partnering with founder-led and management-owned businesses across North America. The firm focuses on acquiring and growing market-leading companies in essential industries through strategic investments, operational excellence, and value creation.
Due to continued growth, the firm is seeking a Senior Associate to join its Investments Team. This individual will work closely with Partners and senior investment professionals to evaluate acquisition opportunities, execute transactions, and support portfolio company initiatives.
This role offers significant exposure to all aspects of the investment lifecycle and provides the opportunity to take on meaningful responsibility within a collaborative, entrepreneurial environment.
Position Responsibilities
- Evaluate new investment opportunities through financial, operational, and industry analysis.
- Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models, including LBO, valuation, operating, and return analysis models.
- Lead and coordinate financial and commercial due diligence alongside external advisors.
- Prepare investment committee memoranda, presentations, and transaction materials.
- Support the execution of acquisitions, recapitalizations, financings, and strategic transactions.
- Monitor portfolio company performance by analyzing financial results, operating metrics, and strategic initiatives.
- Partner with management teams to identify opportunities for operational improvements and long-term value creation.
- Assist with evaluating add-on acquisitions and strategic growth initiatives for existing portfolio companies.
- Build and maintain relationships with investment bankers, business owners, executives, and industry professionals to help source new investment opportunities.
Qualifications
- MBA from a highly regarded business school.
- 3–6\+ years of relevant professional experience, including investment banking experience with a leading investment bank or M\&A advisory firm.
- Previous experience in private equity, corporate development, transaction advisory, or leveraged finance is preferred.
- Advanced financial modeling, valuation, and analytical skills.
- Strong understanding of mergers and acquisitions, capital structures, and corporate finance.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities while working independently and collaboratively.
- High degree of intellectual curiosity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred Experience
- Experience evaluating middle-market companies.
- Exposure to business services, engineering, infrastructure, industrial, or essential services sectors is a plus.
- CPA and/or CFA designation.
