Job Description

A leading healthcare technology company is transforming care coordination through a platform that streamlines workflows across inpatient, outpatient, and population health teams. By enabling faster, aligned collaboration, the platform helps health systems and post-acute care providers improve outcomes, reduce readmissions, and shorten hospital stays.

Role Overview

Our client is seeking a strategic, commercially-minded, and hands-on

Head of Authorizations Product \& Operations

to own the full lifecycle of a Prior Authorizations product and business line. This role will lead both Product and Operations, with the goal of eliminating prior authorization as a barrier to post-acute care—replacing delays and uncertainty with efficient, reliable transitions.

This position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer and is responsible for driving Authorizations revenue by expanding payor coverage, increasing product utilization, and managing cost per authorization.

You will lead a cross-functional team (including engineering and operations) and partner closely with Marketing, Support, and Implementation teams.

Key Responsibilities

Product Strategy \& Roadmap

  • Define and execute the product strategy and roadmap for Prior Authorizations
  • Partner with Engineering, Design, and Clinical/Operations to deliver high-impact features
  • Track and optimize key adoption metrics, including coverage, utilization, client growth, and cost per authorization

Operations Leadership

  • Guide and scale Authorizations operations to support significant volume growth while reducing costs
  • Establish priorities, playbooks, and an evolving operating model
  • Balance automation and human workflows, leveraging AI to increase efficiency
  • Own and improve cost-per-authorization as a core KPI

Partnerships \& Ecosystem Growth

  • Build and manage relationships with payors, clearinghouses, and partners
  • Expand authorization coverage through integrations and process improvements
  • Lead negotiations and drive partnerships from concept through implementation

Customer Implementation \& Adoption

  • Oversee implementation for new and existing customers
  • Develop scalable, repeatable onboarding processes
  • Ensure timely go-lives and strong adoption in partnership with Customer Success

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Marketing on positioning and messaging
  • Work with Support to reduce operational friction through product improvements
  • Communicate goals, KPIs, and progress to leadership and stakeholders

Key Outcomes

  • Drive incremental Authorizations revenue through expanded coverage and utilization
  • Scale operations to support 2–3x growth in authorization volume
  • Reduce cost per authorization
  • Improve hospital length-of-stay through faster authorization workflows

Qualifications

  • 8–12 years of experience in Product Management, Strategy \& Operations, or Management Consulting
  • Proven track record of owning outcomes and leading teams in operational environments
  • Experience driving commercial results and negotiating with external partners
  • Strong product mindset with experience defining roadmaps and working with engineering teams
  • Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills
  • Highly organized, analytical, and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Proficient with AI tools to enhance productivity and decision-making
  • Comfortable in a fast-paced, remote technology environment
