Vice President, Controller
to join our team! The Vice President, Controller is a key financial leader, dedicated to strengthening and maximizing the Credit Union’s financial performance, integrity, and long-term sustainability. This role leads all accounting operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP principles, effective internal controls, and accurate, timely financial reporting. The Controller leads forecasting, cost management, audit coordination, and financial risk oversight, while delivering clear, decision-oriented reporting to executive leadership and the Board. By prioritizing system automation and process excellence, the Controller transforms the accounting function to support strategic growth and organizational resilience.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Leading Credit Union accounting practices and reporting frameworks to ensure high-integrity financial statements, ALCO reporting, and general ledger accuracy that inform executive decision-making.
- Architecting and refining monthly reporting suites that provide timely, actionable insights while maintaining rigorous compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as evolving GAAP standards.
- Partnering cross functionally to ensure financial alignment with operational priorities, establishing clear accountability frameworks that drive organization-wide efficiency.
- Partnering with stakeholders in the annual budget and forecast process by providing historical trend analysis, validating assumptions, ensuring alignment to GAAP and internal controls, and confirming consistency with the general ledger. This includes analyzing financial information detailing assets, liabilities, and capital, ensuring preparation of the balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected Credit Union financial position.
- Optimizing the oversight of general ledger accounts, with focus on cash accounts and determination of depreciation rates for capital assets.
- Preparing reports that summarize and forecast business activity and financial position in areas of income, expense, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
- Orchestrating the preparation of comprehensive financial, statistical, and accounting records and statements, ensuring timely balance sheet reconciliations, item resolution, and all required reporting.
- Championing a culture of process excellence by leading process redesigns and the deployment of advanced automation, including AI solutions.
Leadership Responsibilities:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- License/Certification: CPA
- Minimum 8 years’ experience with investments, budgeting, forecasting, GAAP, and cost containment.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience with managing or supervising employees.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience working at a financial institution and/or credit union.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications which includes preparing spreadsheets, working with complex formulas, and utilizing work processing.
Basic Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- License/Certification: CPA
- Minimum 8 years’ experience with investments, budgeting, forecasting, GAAP, and cost containment.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience with managing or supervising employees.
- Minimum 8 years’ experience working at a financial institution and/or credit union.

Salary Range:
$185,075\.00 To $205,639\.00 Annually
