Position Summary
Prime Jet LLC is seeking a highly qualified and experienced Controller to establish and lead the Company’s accounting function. This is a newly created position, offering a unique opportunity to design, implement, and oversee accounting operations in a growing and operationally complex aviation environment.
The Controller will work closely with executive leadership, including the Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Financial Officer, to ensure the integrity of financial reporting and to support strategic decision-making across the organization.
This role is intended to serve as a succession path to the Chief Financial Officer position within approximately three years. Accordingly, the Company seeks a candidate with the capability and ambition to assume broader financial leadership responsibilities over time.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting Operations and Leadership
- Establish and oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and reconciliations
- Develop, implement, and maintain accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Provide leadership, training, and technical guidance to accounting staff, including support for transactional processes and issue resolution
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial records and reporting
Financial Reporting and Compliance
- Prepare and deliver timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP
- Manage the month-end and year-end close processes
- Ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory, tax, and reporting requirements
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, and other professional service providers
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with internal departments, including scheduling, operations, flight crews, and sales, to ensure accurate financial data flow and alignment with business activities
- Serve as a key accounting resource across the organization, providing guidance and resolving inquiries
- Support operational and financial decision-making through analysis and reporting
Strategic Finance and Succession Development
- Collaborate closely with the CFO, CEO, and COO on budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Company’s operations, financial structure, and strategic objectives
- Contribute to the development and scaling of financial systems and infrastructure
- Prepare to assume the responsibilities of the Chief Financial Officer within a defined transition period
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA designation strongly preferred
- Minimum of 7–12 years of progressive accounting experience, including demonstrated leadership responsibility
- Thorough knowledge of U.S. GAAP and financial reporting standards
- Proven experience developing and implementing accounting processes and internal controls
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in both strategic and hands-on capacities
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- Experience within aviation, transportation, or a related service industry is preferred
