Orange County Human Resources is currently seeking a well-qualified candidate to serve as an On Call Human Resources Assistant on the Benefits \& Wellness team. This position performs paraprofessional and administrative support human resources work. Provides a wide range of human resources support service in Human Resources (HR) Administration.
Work is performed under the general direction of the HR Advisor or HR Administrator. Performance is evaluated for accuracy, efficiency and results achieved.
This is a temporary position with no benefits or paid leave
Representative Duties
-------------------------
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following duties are representative and not all inclusive:
- Supports the administration of the day-to-day operations of Human Resources (HR) performing work in employee benefits, retirement benefits, and other related services.
- Maintains (paper and electronic) files on various HR related issues. Follows proper records retention guidelines.
- Serves as a liaison between employees, departments and the Payroll Department in the resolution of employee issues and questions related to benefits.
- Provides information on County benefits plans, assists employees with enrollment and termination of benefits and ensures that payroll deductions are accurate.
- Audits and processes all supporting documentation for qualified life events for online and paper requests. Acts as a liaison with insurance carriers related to specific employee concerns or benefits problems. Communicates County benefits plans and programs during ¿Connections¿ (new employee orientation).
- Provides information on retirement and benefits to retiring employees. Sets up and hosts retirement meetings; completes all pre and post retirement transactions. Coordinates and facilitates Florida Retirement System (FRS) employee enrollment, membership designation changes and resolves issues and errors. Coordinates and facilitates retiree health insurance and health insurance subsidy enrollment.
- Process bi-weekly and monthly reporting including but not limited to COBRA, ACA, and FRS reporting.
- Respond to all customers via telephone, email, team mailboxes, county messaging platforms, and in person.
- Provides information and support to employees and retirees during the annual open enrollment period. Assist with in person benefits presentations. Audit and process dependent documentation. Review open enrollment reporting and take applicable actions accordingly.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
--------------------------
Associate¿s degree from an accredited institution and one year of human resources experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferences

Post secondary education from an accredited institution
HR Certification Institute Professional in Human Resources (PHR)
Society for Human Resource Management Certified Professional (SHRM-CP)

Educational Requirements
