Associate Cloud Engineer

As an Associate Cloud Engineer, you’ll work with our DevOps, product, and development teams to build, automate, and support the cloud infrastructure behind our SaaS platform. In this role, you’ll grow your skills in infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD, and cloud engineering while helping reduce toil, improve reliability, and keep our systems cost-efficient. Your work will help create a more stable and scalable technology environment that supports our teams, products, and broader business goals.

The pay range for this position In Western Washington varies between $70,900 – $106,300, and for Eastern Washington varies between $63,500 – $95900\. Washington Dental Service and its affiliates, including Arcora Foundation, Delta Dental of Washington, and TriForza Corp. intends to offer the selected candidate a base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience. Base pay will also be adjusted based on the candidate's geographic location.

• Provision and deploy workloads in AWS and Azure to support our SaaS platform offerings.
• Write and maintain infrastructure-as-code using HCL, OpenTofu, and Terraform to provision and configure cloud infrastructure, building on established modules and patterns.
• Automate repetitive operational tasks using Python, Node.js, Bash, and/or PowerShell to reduce manual effort and improve efficiency.
• Right-size and tune cloud resources to improve performance and manage infrastructure cost
• Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps and AWS CodeDeploy.
• Assist with containerizing and running workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, and Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS).
• Use Git for branching, pull requests, code reviews, and other day-to-day development and delivery workflows.
• Build and maintain monitoring, logging, dashboards, and alerts that provide visibility into system health and support reliability and incident response.
• Help maintain technical documentation, standards, and runbooks to support consistent engineering practices and day-to-day operations.

These requirements are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the essential functions of the role.

• 2 years previous experience working with the systems and requirements listed below.
• Experience working with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) through work, internships, coursework, or hands-on projects.
• Familiarity with Linux, including command-line navigation, file systems, permissions, and other common operating system tasks.
• Experience working with infrastructure-as-code using Terraform and HCL, including reading and updating existing configurations.
• Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and experience using Azure DevOps, AWS CodeDeploy, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, or a similar tool.
• Experience using Git version control, including branching, pull requests, and code reviews.
• Understanding of DNS concepts, including record types, name resolution, caching, and delegation.
• Understanding of cloud networking concepts, including subnets, routing, VPCs, and public and private connectivity.
• Experience using at least one scripting language, such as Python, Node.js, Bash, or PowerShell, to complete technical tasks or automate work.
• Experience with Ansible or another configuration management tool is preferred, especially for Windows automation. Ability to organize and prioritize work, communicate progress, and meet team commitments.
• Exposure to software development practices, such as writing application code, debugging, testing, or working with APIs, is a plus.
