Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Engineer to join the Operations team supporting next-generation network infrastructure, including virtual CMTS (vCMTS) and Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) platforms.
This engineer will play a critical role in platform stand-up, software installation, network maintenance, automation, incident mitigation, and long-term reliability improvements across national deployments. The ideal candidate combines strong Linux systems expertise, deep network protocol knowledge, and hands-on automation experience within a 24x7 production environment.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Support vCMTS platform stand-up, software installation, and system configuration
- Execute change implementations including system upgrades, risk mitigation, and RMAs
- Perform system and network maintenance across distributed environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve production software, hardware, and networking issues
- Identify service-impacting trends and partner with engineering teams to drive long-term solutions
- Handle incident mitigation in a 24/7 operational environment
- Participate in an on-call rotation (including weekends and holidays)
- Develop automation tools and scripts (Python, Bash, etc.) to improve operational efficiency
- Support new product integration and operationalization efforts
- Collaborate with Product and Project Management teams to deploy new services
- Build monitoring solutions and contribute to service reliability improvements
- Develop standards and procedures for release readiness and quality measurement
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- 3\+ years of production operations experience in a 24x7 environment
- Strong expertise in Unix/Linux environments
- Hands-on experience with scripting and automation (Bash, Python, etc.)
- Proven experience in network troubleshooting and configuration
- Strong understanding of networking fundamentals, including:
+ BGP
+ OSPF
+ Routing protocols and traffic flow
- Experience working with networking devices such as:
+ Juniper
+ Arista
- Cisco
+ (CCNA or JNCIA certifications are a plus)
- Server hardware and software troubleshooting experience
- Experience with revision control systems (Git/GitHub) including branching and tagging strategies
- Experience provisioning and managing applications in virtualized and cloud environments (AWS preferred)
Preferred Qualifications
- Kubernetes experience
- Jenkins (CI/CD pipeline automation)
- Ansible, Puppet, or Chef for configuration management
- Docker containerization
- Experience building and replacing system hardware
- Familiarity with IT service definition, implementation, and monitoring
- Exposure to Distributed Access Architecture (DAA) or cable platform operations
- Strong collaboration skills with QA, Software Engineering, and Network Engineering teams
