Lowery Property Advisors is a growing commercial real estate appraisal and advisory firm with team members across 12 offices throughout all of Texas with locations in Oklahoma, Colorado, and Georgia. We are seeking an experienced, people-focused HR professional to help lead our day-to-day people operations, strengthen our recruiting and onboarding processes, support managers, and help protect and reinforce the culture that makes LPA special.
About the Role
The People Operations Manager will be responsible for leading core HR functions across the company, including recruiting, onboarding, offboarding, employee relations, HR administration, and manager enablement. This role plays a critical part in helping LPA scale by strengthening how we hire, develop, and support our people. This is a hands-on and strategic role for someone who is passionate about building strong teams through strong managers. A key focus will be equipping leaders with the tools, training, and confidence to effectively manage performance, navigate difficult conversations, and lead their teams with clarity and accountability. The ideal candidate brings strong people instincts, sound judgment, and excellent recruiting capabilities, along with the ability to evolve HR processes and infrastructure to support a growing organization. This person should be energized by building systems that scale, while maintaining a high-touch, people-first approach. This role will report to the CEO and will likely have one direct report shortly after starting.
Key Responsibilities
Recruiting \& Hiring
- Manage and improve the company’s recruiting process from job posting through offer acceptance
- Partner with managers to understand hiring needs and role requirements
- Help source, screen, and evaluate candidates
- Coordinate interviews and candidate communication
- Support hiring managers in assessing both skill fit and culture fit
- Help ensure candidates have professional, organized, and positive experiences with LPA
- Bring strong recruiting instincts and rigor to ensure we consistently attract, evaluate, and select high-quality candidates who align with LPA’s standards and culture
Onboarding \& Employee Experience
- Own the onboarding process for new team members
- Coordinate pre-start communication, paperwork, systems access, orientation, and first-week experience
- Help managers create a strong first 30/60/90-day experience for new hires
- Continuously improve onboarding materials, checklists, and processes
- Support team member engagement, recognition, internal communication, and culture-building efforts
Offboarding \& Terminations
- Independently manage routine offboarding processes
- Coordinate exit checklists, documentation, equipment return, systems access, and final administrative steps
- Conduct or support exit interviews
- Help prepare for and conduct terminations when needed
- Ensure terminations are handled professionally, respectfully, consistently, and with appropriate documentation
- Know when to escalate higher-risk situations to leadership or outside counsel
Employee Relations \& Manager Support
- Train and equip managers to effectively lead their teams, including performance management, communication, and team development
- Serve as a trusted advisor and coach to managers at all levels
- Provide guidance and support for navigating difficult conversations, feedback delivery, and conflict resolution
- Help establish consistent expectations and standards for people management across the organization
- Reinforce a culture where accountability and care coexist, and where managers take ownership of team performance and engagement
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve manager effectiveness and team health
Manager Development \& Organizational Growth
- Help design and implement training and resources to improve manager capability across the organization
- Partner with leadership to identify gaps in management practices and team performance
- Support the evolution of the HR function to better meet the needs of a growing and changing team
- Help build scalable processes, frameworks, and tools that enable consistent, high-quality people management
- Contribute to organizational clarity around roles, expectations, and accountability
HR Administration \& Compliance
- Maintain employee records, personnel files, and HR documentation
- Support benefits administration and employee questions
- Ensure completion of required paperwork, I-9s, handbook acknowledgments, and other HR compliance items
- Help maintain and update HR policies, procedures, and employee handbook materials
- Coordinate with payroll, finance, leadership, outside HR advisors, and employment counsel as needed
Culture \& Core Values
- Help protect, strengthen, and reinforce LPA’s culture and core values
- Support values-based hiring, onboarding, recognition, and communication
- Help ensure people processes feel human, clear, consistent, and aligned with how LPA operates
- Serve as a culture ambassador who models professionalism, warmth, humility, and accountability
- Familiarity with EOS, Traction, accountability charts, scorecards, or values-based operating systems is a plus
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have:
- 6–8\+ years of progressive HR experience
- Experience in an HR Generalist, HR Manager, People Operations, or similar role
- Strong recruiting experience and comfort managing a hiring process
- Experience independently managing onboarding and offboarding
- Experience supporting or leading terminations in a professional, well-documented manner
- Strong employee relations judgment and discretion
- Ability to coach managers through common people issues
- Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through
- A genuine passion for culture, values, and employee experience
- Comfort working in a growing, entrepreneurial, professional services environment
- Ability to balance empathy with accountability
- Familiarity with EOS and ADP Workforce Now is a plus, but not required
- Demonstrated ability to train or coach managers on people leadership and performance management
- Comfort leading difficult conversations and guiding others through sensitive situations
- Strong ability to build and evolve HR processes in a growing organization
- A mindset focused on continuous improvement and scaling people operations
- Exceptional recruiting judgment and a track record of hiring strong talent
- Is comfortable with about 20% travel
