Duties and Responsibilities:

• Developing our data platform — ETL pipeline development, data modelling, and contributing to platform architecture decisions
• Integrating a variety of data sources into the platform, including Kafka/Debezium CDC streams, MySQL, BigQuery and various others.
• Understanding our datasets deeply, modelling them well, and implementing structures that fit our existing dimensional model
• Optimising and improving data flows for both batch and real-time use cases
• Building and maintaining real-time data streaming applications and supporting real-time data access by downstream systems and tools
• Building dashboards in Tableau and contributing to other reporting solutions
• Investigating data quality issues and troubleshooting reporting discrepancies
• Contributing to internal projects and collaborating closely with other members of the data team

Person Specifications:

• Minimum 2 years of experience working as a data engineer within a data team
• Strong, expert-level SQL skills
• Solid data warehousing background including ETL development and dimensional data modelling
• Knowledge of ETL technologies, Airflow,

Kafka

, Python

• Familiar with version control tools such as Git
• A passion for data in general, specifically visualisations, performance measurement and report building with Tableau
• Ability to self-organise, work without close supervision, and bring a proactive attitude and strong team spirit
• Comfortable working within agile teams and methodology
