Job Description
FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE:
Develops learning content for training programs, courses and job aids to support the growth of employee using various learning delivery methods.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1\. Develops training curriculum to meet identified training needs using instructional design methodology through all phases of each project including analysis, design, development, implementation and evaluation.
2\. Writes training materials including course curriculum, facilitator guides, participant guides, job aids and other content to meet training need and objectives. Provides recommendations on the most effective delivery modality.
3\. Works in partnership with subject matter experts to gather information needed to develop training content.
4\. Develops training storyboards from the training design plan for customer and instructional designer review.
5\. Writes learning curriculum utilizing an array of instructional design strategies that focus on innovative ways to deliver and deploy learning.
6\. Makes recommendations and assists with the implementation of new training development and methodologies.
7\. Follows the established learning standards and ensures the training requirements are met for all content and programs.
8\. Reviews materials and tests training courses and development programs to ensure accuracy, thoroughness and clarity of the product.
9\. Maintains knowledge of training and development research and innovative ideas supporting learning theory, motivation theory, and new materials, methods, and techniques.
1\. REQUIREMENTS:
Ability to communicate in writing in a succinct and organized manner; producing written materials, taking into account proper audience, content, format, and grammar.
2\. Ability to communicate orally in order to develop working relationships with customers and employees in other functional areas.
3\. Knowledge of the methods and practices of training design and curriculum development sufficient to write training curriculum.
4\. Ability to develop instructional content compliant with Shareable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) and Section 508 Accessibility requirements.
5\. Ability to critically review and evaluate training materials and make recommendations for improvement.
6\. EDUCATION REQUIREMENT: Bachelor's or Graduate Degree in Learning Design, Instructional Systems, Educational Psychology or a related training field from a college or university accredited by a national or regional accreditation organization recognized and sanctioned by the U.S. Department of Education that included at least 12 semester hours of course work in the following areas: 1) Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness; and 2) Instructional product development: Study of the techniques appropriate for developing training materials, including identifying learner characteristics, specifying objectives, applying training strategy, validating training materials, and evaluating training. Applicants must attach a copy of transcripts validating completion of this coursework at the time of application in order to be considered.
7\. Ability to design and develop training curriculum leveraging instructional design strategies and adult learning concepts to ensure learner needs are met.
8\. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: Working knowledge of instructional design, adult learning concepts, course development, and technology associated with creating online and blended learning solutions as demonstrated through at least 2 years of experience executing the full life cycle of the instructional systems design (ISD) process including developing linear and non-linear technology-based storyboards for programmers/web developers, including graphics concepts, audio scripts, user interactions, navigation, and other related elements.
9\. Skill using content authoring tools sufficient to develop quality course material independently, along with a variety of other software applications such as Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Connect, Photoshop, Microsoft PowerPoint and Camtasia.
