About The Role

A government-sector technology division is seeking an experienced Senior IT Project Manager to lead and deliver complex enterprise IT initiatives involving multiple teams, stakeholders, and aggressive delivery timelines. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, communication, and technical project management capabilities with experience managing large-scale projects in both Agile and Waterfall environments.

The Project Manager will oversee the full project lifecycle including initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout while ensuring alignment with established PMO governance standards and delivery expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead complex IT projects with cross-functional technical and business teams.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, deliverables, and resource coordination.
• Collaborate with development teams, business stakeholders, vendors, consultants, and contractors.
• Facilitate requirements gathering sessions, design workshops, and project planning activities.
• Ensure timely communication of project status, timelines, milestones, and risks.
• Develop and maintain project documentation, reports, and metrics.
• Coordinate testing activities including test objectives, test plans, and test cases.
• Ensure successful delivery of projects within approved timelines and budgets.
• Support training and transition activities for systems and applications.
• Utilize project management tools and reporting mechanisms to track project progress.
• Ensure adherence to PMO governance, standards, and project management methodologies.

Required Qualifications

• Active PMP Certification through PMI or Project Management Certification through VITA (mandatory).
• No other certifications will be considered in place of PMP/VITA certification.
• Strong experience managing enterprise IT projects.
• Experience with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Project.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Experience with system analysis, design, development, testing, and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of project management methodologies, tools, and best practices.
• Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Experience creating custom reports and working with standard IT tools/applications.
• Bachelor s degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Agile Scrum Master certification.
• Prior experience working within transportation or public-sector IT environments.

Additional Information

• Hybrid work schedule requiring onsite presence 2 3 days per week.
• Selected candidate must successfully complete a fingerprint-based background check.
