Job Description
You will lead the development of robust precision machine systems that deliver significant competitive advantage and enable new product lines across our businesses. Working across both prototype and production-capable machine development, you will partner closely with R\&D, engineering, and manufacturing teams throughout the full innovation lifecycle. Your overall roles and responsibilities will include:
- Design and develop next-generation robust precision machine systems that provide significant competitive advantage to our businesses, and/or enable new products and product lines (prototype and production-capable machines).
- Interface with the Research, Development, Engineering, and Manufacturing teams involved in the innovation and manufacture of new products and machine systems across our business units.
- Design and analysis of first-generation/next-generation products, machines, machine fixturing, and machine components from a robustness-of-design perspective.
- Drive deep understanding of process requirements to directly shape equipment design, functionality, and performance.
- Integrate commercially available technologies and processes and effectively leverage external machine builders and system integrators.
- Utilize internal lab facilities and equipment to develop proof-of-concept prototypes.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including controls \& process engineers, optical \& materials scientists.
- Research intellectual property and contribute to our innovation pipeline through a disciplined approach to engineering discovery and development.
Desired Skills \& Experience:
- BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, Metrology, or Precision Engineering
- 5\+ years of industry experience working on precision engineering applications.
- Strong knowledge of precision motion system design.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks and/or Inventor; experience with metrology tools (CMM, laser interferometer).
- Track record of IP documentation, technical curiosity, and solving first-of-kind engineering challenges.
- Strong communicator; self-motivated and effective in collaborative, cross-functional environments.
- Ability to travel domestically 5–25% depending on project phase, including installation, debug, and start-up activities.
