Job Purpose:
As the Financial Controller, you will be working within our MEA Hub to play a key role in creating a high performing team responsible for delivering Close and Control activities for MEA markets as well as delivering more complex accounting activities. You will help to deliver the Finance vision of a “world class finance function recognized by industry, the profession and our people” which underpins the GSK vision.
Strong expertise with accounting concepts, processes and key controls, policies, reporting and budgeting principles to ensure correct application to financial statements. The role also needs to be able to accurately implement controls \& compliance for audit and work closely with other finance and business stakeholders including internal and external auditors.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and complete reporting of financial results for assigned market/business units, including income, balance sheet, and cash flow, accompanied by meaningful commentary.
- Sign off on statutory results in collaboration with in-market FD, particularly when supporting a senior FD, ensuring coordinated activities across other business units.
- Consolidate, analyze, and interpret divisional results to support strategic decision-making.
- Review financial information about historical rates and projected growth plans.
- Own and manage the Market balance sheets, including the approval and oversight of reconciliations.
- Prepare and review accounting papers in line with regulatory and organizational standards.
- Coordinate input and management for external and internal financial audits supporting divisional requirements.
- Lead the month-end review process, fulfil operating expense (OE) reporting requirements, facilitate month-end meetings, coordinate with in-country finance boards, maintain the risk register, and manage interactions with external partners.
- Analyze monthly results and perform variance analysis compared to historical data and forecast targets.
- Maintain accountability for delivering GFS KPIs and ensure that internal controls (ICFW) are consistently adhered to.
- Lead the team to achieve objectives and foster engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
- Act as a strategic partner to LOC FD and Finance Business Partners in driving finance transformation and operational excellence.
Education, Experience and Skills:
- Chartered Accountant / ACCA / Master’s degree in related field is required for this role.
- 6 - 8 years of experience is required for the role.
- Proficiency over IFRS and accounting principles are essential in driving quality of service delivery levels, KPIs improvement and sound reconciliations
- Exceptional analytical skills for interpreting and consolidating financial data and divisional results.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to manage stakeholders and team engagements.
- Strong negotiation and leadership capabilities to oversee team performance and interdepartmental collaborations.
- Proven ability to identify quality opportunities and implement process improvements.
- Proficiency in SAP
- Proficient within Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience working for pharma/biotech company preferred
