Senior Software Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically strong Software Engineer to join a leading financial organisation in NYC. The ideal candidate is a creative problem-solver who thrives in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment and takes strong ownership of their work.

The Engineers work closely with traders, portfolio managers, quantitative researchers, operations, finance, and cloud infrastructure teams to design and build mission-critical systems that support trading, risk management and analytics.

A strong understanding of financial markets, paired with excellent communication skills and engineering is key for this role.

As a Software Engineer you will design, build, and maintain scalable systems that support front-office trading activities, middle-office operations, and downstream reporting. You will develop deep expertise in one or more asset classes and play a key role in enhancing our trading platforms, data infrastructure, and analytics capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain software solutions supporting trading, risk, analytics, and reporting functions
• Partner closely with traders, portfolio managers, quantitative research, and operations teams to translate business requirements into robust technical solutions
• Contribute to the firm’s data and operational infrastructure, ensuring accuracy, scalability, and resilience
• Collaborate with DevOps and Cloud Engineering teams to build, deploy, and support applications in production
• Conduct research and analysis to support new product development, investment insights, and client reporting needs
• Ensure high standards of code quality, testing, documentation, and production readiness

Qualifications \& Experience

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Finance, Business, or a related field

Professional Experience

Software development experience, preferably within financial services, investment banking, or capital markets

Technical Skills

• Strong proficiency in one or more of:

Python, Java, C#

• Experience with

cloud platforms

such as AWS or Azure

• Familiarity with

containerization and orchestration technologies

(Docker, Kubernetes)

• Experience building distributed systems, data pipelines, or real-time applications is a plus

Financial \& Analytical Skills

• Solid understanding of financial markets, trading concepts, and investment products
• Ability to conduct original analysis or research to support investment or client-facing materials

Communication \& Presentation

• Excellent ability explain and present complex technical and financial concepts into clear, logical explanations.
• Strong written and visual communication skills, with attention to detail and publication-ready output
• Comfortable working directly with senior stakeholders across technology and business teams
