Job Purpose/Role Information
The US Internal Audit team operates as part of a broader global audit function with international presence. As a
Lead Auditor
, you will take ownership of complex operational and financial risk-based audits, lead audit engagements end-to-end, and play a key role in advancing data analytics capabilities within the audit function. You will also collaborate closely with colleagues globally to ensure consistency and excellence in audit execution.
What You Will Do:
As a Lead Auditor, you will:
- Serve as the primary audit lead and trusted advisor to senior management within assigned business areas, building strong relationships while maintaining independence and objectivity.
- Lead and manage end-to-end operational, financial, and integrated audits, including planning, execution, and reporting.
- Develop risk-based audit scopes and plans, identifying key risks, control gaps, and emerging themes to inform audit strategy.
- Supervise and mentor junior auditors during engagements, reviewing workpapers and providing coaching to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Design and execute comprehensive audit work programs, including documenting business processes, evaluating control design and effectiveness, and performing substantive and control testing.
- Formulate clear, concise, and impactful audit findings that articulate root causes, risk implications, and practical, value-added recommendations.
- Present audit results and key risk themes to senior stakeholders, challenging constructively where necessary.
- Contribute to the annual risk assessment process, identifying emerging risks and providing input into the development of the annual audit plan.
- Oversee follow-up activities to ensure timely and effective remediation of audit findings, escalating issues where appropriate.
- Lead the implementation and enhancement of computer-assisted audit techniques (CAATs) and data-driven audit methodologies.
- Develop and deploy advanced data analytics and visualization tools to test full populations, identify trends, and generate actionable insights.
- Promote data analytics best practices across the global Internal Audit function.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of Internal Audit methodologies, tools, and quality standards.
- Travel up to 15% per annum as required.
What You Bring
- 8–10 years of professional experience in internal or external audit, risk management, compliance, or consulting within financial services.
- 4–5 years of experience within an asset management company, financial institution, or public accounting firm serving financial services clients.
- Demonstrated experience leading audit engagements and managing stakeholders at senior levels.
- Strong understanding of investment products, operational processes, regulatory frameworks, and corporate governance.
- Experience with SOC / SSAE engagements and internal control frameworks.
- Advanced analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong leadership capability with experience mentoring or supervising team members.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex issues clearly and challenge constructively.
- Ability to operate effectively within a matrixed, global organization.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements and deadlines.
- Advanced Excel, PowerPoint, and data analytics capabilities; familiarity with audit analytics tools and visualization platforms.
- Willingness to travel as required.
Education and Certifications
- University degree in economics, finance, mathematics, or related field.
- Master’s degree preferred.
- Professional audit or finance certification (CPA, CIA, CFA, CISA, CA) strongly preferred.
