Job Description
The Human Resource Generalist position is an integral member of the Human Resources team and will, at the assigned location(s), support and coordinate the day-to-day functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including, but not limited to, recruiting and interviewing staff, coordinating new hire processes relating to onboarding, pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.
Responsibilities
The following list of responsibilities is not all inclusive, additional projects and/or tasks may be assigned to meet operational needs. MCG retains the right to change or assign other duties to this position should operational needs warrant.
- Performs routine tasks required to facilitate and support human resource functions or programs at the assigned site(s), including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development. Correctly identify issues that merit escalation to appropriate personnel. .
- Facilitates new hire orientation, employee feedback and employee recognition programs.
- Facilitates benefits enrollment processes, reconciles benefits invoices, tracks and resolves discrepancies.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Conduct or acquire background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
- May attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Understand and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommend best practices; review policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Acquire or maintain professional human resources certification(s), SHRM-CP or equivalent.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field preferred, or 3 to 5 years of directly applicable experience in a similar role.
- SHRM-CP (or equivalent professional certification) a plus.
- Satisfactory completion of additional background and drug screening.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
- Proficiency with, or the ability to quickly learn, the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems. Familiarity with Paylocity is highly desirable, with SmartRecruiters a plus!
Work environment and Physical Demands
- The work environment is a typical office environment, with quiet to moderate noise levels, and traditional lighting.
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and operating a computer.
- Must be able to communicate effectively using phones or computer software.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Must be able to access and navigate each department at the assigned facilities.
- Must be able to travel between MCG locations as needed, some travel could require overnight stays.
