Job Description
SpearPoint Marketing is looking for a creative, detail-oriented, SEO-minded part-time contractor to support client blog and content workflows. This role is ideal for someone who is a strong writer and editor, comfortable using AI tools, and able to create polished, client-specific content that does not feel generic or obviously AI-generated.
The main responsibility of this role is creating blog content and supporting visuals using AI tools, Canva, client personas, brand guidelines, content calendars, and established SOPs. This person will help produce content that aligns with each client’s goals, audience, industry, tone, and SEO strategy.
This is not a copy-and-paste AI writing role. The right person must know how to use AI as a production tool while still applying human judgment, creativity, editing skill, SEO knowledge, and common sense.
What You’ll Do
- Create blog content using AI tools, client personas, brand guidelines, approved topics, and content calendar direction
- Follow our blog process SOP from topic assignment through draft creation, SEO optimization, image sourcing, and final handoff
- Use Canva to source, create, and format blog images that align with each client’s brand, website style, audience, and content topic
- Adapt blog content to each client’s industry, customer demographic, tone, goals, and level of sophistication
- Review and edit AI-assisted content so it sounds human, natural, helpful, and aligned with client expectations
- Avoid repetitive AI-generated structures, overly formulaic outlines, duplicated formats, and generic “same blog, different topic” content
- Create variety in blog formats while maintaining a clean, consistent, professional content flow
- Apply SEO best practices to every piece of content, including search intent, keyword/topic relevance, heading structure, internal linking, meta titles, meta descriptions, image alt text, and local SEO considerations when applicable
- Identify when a topic, draft, image, or content direction does not make sense for the client and flag it before moving forward
- Create content that is visually and structurally appropriate for the client, not just technically complete
- Collaborate with the internal team through Asana, Slack, and shared Google Drive folders
- Complete assigned content tasks by agreed deadlines and communicate clearly when direction is unclear
What We’re Looking For
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills required
- Experience using AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar platforms required
- Experience using Canva for image sourcing, formatting, and basic design required
- Basic understanding of SEO content best practices required
- Ability to write in different tones for different clients and industries
- Ability to follow SOPs, templates, content calendars, client personas, and brand guidelines
- Strong attention to detail and good visual judgment
- Ability to recognize and revise content that feels generic, repetitive, overly formulaic, or obviously AI-generated
- Comfortable working independently on a flexible schedule
- Reliable communication and deadline management
- Familiarity with WordPress or basic blog publishing workflows is a plus
- Experience with local SEO, service-based businesses, home services, fitness, legal, wellness, B2B, SaaS, manufacturing, or e-commerce brands is a plus
Content Judgment Matters
The biggest skill for this role is content judgment. We need someone who can look at a finished blog and ask:
- Does this sound like something this client would be proud to publish?
- Does this fit the client’s industry, audience, and business goals?
- Does this look and feel like human-created content?
- Is the structure too repetitive or obviously AI-generated?
- Would the client trust that we understand their business?
- Are the images, headings, layout, and flow appropriate for this customer?
- Does the piece pass a basic common-sense check before it goes to the client or gets published?
This person does not need to be a senior SEO strategist, but they do need to understand how to create content that feels polished, intentional, useful, and client-specific.
